Principal's Corner

Good Morning Parents and Guardians,

Can you even believe that we are one quarter of the way through the school year! Time truly flies in middle school. We have wrapped up Cross Country, Volleyball, and even our football season is coming to a close. Your student's report cards will be live and available in HAC soon. This is a great time to sit down with your children and talk about goals, what they want to do after high school, and what they classes and habits that they may need to begin practicing to get there. The upcoming months is when we begin transition planning with our students to welcome in rising 5th graders and support rising 8th graders as they enter high school and course cards and elective choices for next year will soon be upon us.

Your kids are working hard in their classrooms and we are seeing lots of improvement in the areas of ELA and Math. Continue to encourage your students to keep trying and to take advantage of resources like tutoring to make sure that they understand the material. Many times students get focused on the grade, but it is equally important to understand the material and be able to replicate the skill, so encourage them to utilize tutoring to help them throughout the entire 9 weeks and not just at the end to make up missing assignments.

On Friday October 30th we are planning our Fall Festival from 5 - 8 pm. We will have Food Trucks, Student Performances, Art Displays, and a Trunk or Treat. Hope to see you there!

Finally, there will be a few propositions that will be brought to the voting booth this November that concern the students and families of NISD. Prop A - Is a Voter Approve Tax adjustment. The purpose of this proposition is to provide funding to support the day to day operations of our campuses including the cost of staff, maintenance, and support services. The estimated cost per 250,000 dollar property value is $30 a year and will close the current deficit that NISD has when it comes to operational costs. Prop B-D - These propositions are part of a district bond. This bond supports capital projects. For instance, one of those projects would include the installation of a security vestibule here at Pease MS. This security vestibule would be similar to the "two door" check-in which you may have experienced when visiting one of the elementary schools. The bond propositions would not bring a cost change to home tax rates as one of the previous bonds is rolling out. Learn more about the VATRE and Bond here.

Thank you,

Dr. Nicholas Longoria

Early Life as a Texan

Last week our 7th grade students got to experience early Texas life with the Alamo Trunk Project. They were able to get hands on with historical artifacts and had a few laughs along the way too.

Pick Up and Drop Off

Parents and Guardians,

If you pick up or drop off your child please be sure to only drop them off in the areas marked in green on the attached photo.

1. Make sure to pull as far forward as possible in the green zone, this allows for more drop offs/pickups to happen at once and brings vehicles out of traffic on Hunt Lane.

2. Please DO NOT pick up or drop off your student on Hunt Lane, this can be very dangerous and your child is extremely vulnerable at this time if there was an accident. Also do not allow your child to drop off or get picked up anywhere near the metal rails under the covered walkway, again this is a very vulnerable area and a child could get pinched by a vehicle with no way to avoid injury.

The only time we will drop off or pick up in the covered area would be during a hard rain and if that occurs we all will just need to accept that Drop off and Pick up will take longer on those days.

During School Hours - Please do not park on any of the Red Curbs, especially do not park on a red curb and leave your vehicle unattended. The red curbs are considered Fire Lanes and are reserved for emergency vehicles when needed. If you need to park and come into the building you may of course use the parking lot, or pull your vehicle past the cones and park on the left side of the drive.

Finally, after dropping off or picking up please keep your speed appropriate for a parking lot, we are having some cars especially in the morning speeding off through the pick up lane after dropping off their child.

By following these few things we should be able to get everyone through this process efficiently and over all we have been doing a great job. Thank you for your support,

Campus Dress Code

  1. Shorts of mid-thigh length may be worn at all school levels. Suggestive and/or indecent shorts will be prohibited. Students are only allowed to wear the PE/Athletic uniform/shorts/shirt during PE/Athletic class.

  2. Mid-thigh length skirts, skorts, and dresses may be worn at all levels. There should not be a cut, fray or slit in the clothing that extends above the mid-thigh. Suggestive and/or indecent styles will be prohibited. These requirements also apply to school uniforms.

  3. Students must adhere to the school dress code by wearing shorts that are an appropriate length—no shorter than mid-thigh. Shorts that do not meet this length requirement are not permitted, even when worn with leggings underneath.

  4. Appropriate footwear must be worn; footwear which has toes reinforced with steel, hard plastics or similar materials are specifically prohibited. No house shoes/slippers.

  5. Hair must be neat and clean. Unconventional hairstyles that distract from teaching and learning will be prohibited. No hats, headgear or hoods on when inside of the building. No sunglasses inside the building.

  6. Any clothes that are suggestive or indecent or which cause a distraction will be prohibited. Specifically, oversized clothing, sleeveless/ tank tops, muscle shirts, halter/crop tops, spaghetti straps, exposed backs, shoulders, or midriffs, and see-through garments are prohibited.

  7. Indecent/inappropriate patches, writings, or drawings on clothing are prohibited. Undergarments must not be visible.

  8. All pants are to be worn at the waist (no “sagging”) Tight fitting pants (e.g. tights, spandex, biker pants/shorts, etc.) are also prohibited. Frays or holes above the knees are prohibited. No pajama pants except on approved spirit days.

Campus cell phone/technology/gaming devices policy:

  • Campus phone/technology policy. Students will be required to put away all phones, iPads, headphones, and gaming units when they are dismissed from their waiting area in the morning. Students will not be authorized to use these devices while on campus. This includes lunch and in the classroom. We have found that the distraction they create interferes with the focus of learning. I know that many parents like to communicate with their child while they are on campus, every classroom has a phone, and messages can be sent from the front office. If students need to contact a parent, they just need to ask a teacher or administrator. The campus is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken technology, cell phones, or gaming devices. This policy aligns with current state laws.

Athletics Information

Athletic Required Documentation

Parents and Guardians,

In order for your students to participate, or even try out, for a sport they must have completed all of their forms in RankOne and the coaches must have an athletic physical on file, on this form, prior to trying out for or participating in a sport.

PE and Athletic Uniforms

PE and Athletic Uniforms can be purchased from the following site. You can either order your uniforms to be delivered to the school for free, or choose to pay an additional fee for home delivery.

Parents of 6th grade students, please know that your PE is a semester long course for 6th graders, so PE uniforms can still be purchased now even if your student will not take PE until the second semester.

  • PE Uniforms ($25 for set)

Athletic Uniforms are sold in the same way as PE uniforms, but are available at using the following site.

  • Boys Athletic Uniforms ($25 for set)

  • Girls Athletic Uniforms ($25 for set)

Students are required to use these uniforms for both PE and Athletics, you may want to consider purchasing more than one uniform so that one can be laundered while the other set is in use. We recommend that you mark your child's uniform with their first and last name once you receive them, the campus is not responsible for lost items.
