Message from Mr. Tejkl

Excited to get started!

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and that your summer is going great! My name is Tucker Tejkl and I am excited to be the new superintendent here at Shelby-Rising City and ready to get the new school year rolling. A little about me: I am happily married to my wife Kylie who is a registered nurse and we have been married for nearly 7 years. We are blessed with three boys: Weston (7), Cohen (5) and Jack (2). We are all excited to move into Shelby and start our new adventure!

S-RC has a rich history of family, working together and pride. I look forward to continuing the tradition while bringing an energy and enthusiasm for everyone in our district. I'm can't wait to meet all of our teachers, our staff and our students. There are many events coming up and I am planning to be involved and invested in SRC. I also want to be able to give back to our community over time as well through our school so if anyone has any projects or ideas, please reach out to me! I look forward to meeting you all soon. Have a great week!

I plan to release these each Sunday and I gather most of my information through facebook so if you have any announcements, please let me know and I'd be happy to include those!

Quote of the week to make you think:

"Enjoy every moment you have because in life, there are no rewinds, only flashbacks. Make sure it's all work it." - Anonymous

Sincerely,

Tucker Tejkl

Do you have events coming up? (Community)

Let me know and I will put them on my future newsletters! I gather (steal) information from Facebook from the pages of Shelby Chamber of Commerce and Village of Rising City.

Donations welcomed for our Library Project! Take a read!

The 420 students I serve are eager to learn in new ways as they intertwine content with play, technology, and real-world applications. They are passionate, hard-working kids who squeeze the most out of every experience. That is why I work hard to make learning memorable for them.

Our students will not only demonstrate learning in core class areas assessed by state standards, they will also build critical thinking skills, problem solving strategies, collaborative techniques, growth mindset, and share their products with an authentic audience that provides feedback. Preschool through fifth grade have weekly library classes that LEGOs could potentially enrich as we study characters, setting, genre, sequence, plot, and more through collaboration across content areas.

Our middle and high school students will benefit from library and classroom collaboration with social studies classes to recreate historical events, science classes to represent cell structures and processes, English classes to create stop motion green screen projects, exploration classes as they conduct inquiry learning, agriculture classes as they learn about life cycles, and so much more. The flexibility of the LEGO product makes it easy to customize for any class preschool through twelfth grade and would be a unique way to keep students connected with their school library all throughout their school experience.

This project seeks more than just academic success. It seeks to grow our students as people: socially, emotionally, academically, and creatively. When we give our students the tools and empower them as problem-solving creators, there’s no telling what they can do.
