ACTION ITEMS
1. Returning to Bellerive Form
Is your child returning to Bellerive for the 2026-2027 school year?
We need your help preparing for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Our staffing is dependent on student numbers. In order for us to plan for the next school year, it is important that we have accurate information on who will/will not be returning to Bellerive.
We ask that you complete a SEPARATE FORM for EACH CHILD in your household to help us with our records and planning.
We request that these be submitted no later than Monday, April 13th. Thank you for your help!
2. Class Placement Input
We are beginning to develop our class lists for next school year, and we strive to create a balanced classroom environment for our students. Please know this is a challenging process that involves multiple variables. When planning, we take into consideration students' academic needs, learning styles, peer relationships, gender, ethnicity, social-emotional needs, and much more.
Your input on how your child learns is important to our decisions on class placement. Please take a moment to fill out this survey for your child. We know you know your child best! We ask that you complete a SEPARATE FORM for EACH CHILD in your family.
If you choose, you may share other factors you would like us to consider during class placement. We will not be honoring specific teacher requests, so please do not submit a teacher request on this form.
Your child's current classroom teacher, specials teachers, other specialists, counselors, and administrators will review the input you submit and work together to create the most balanced classes we can in order to best support the learning and growth of all students.
Thank you so much for your input. Responses are due by Monday, April 13, 2026.

Free Liar’s Society Journal with Pre-Order
We were excited to welcome author Alyson Gerber to Bellerive last week! During her visit, she shared a special opportunity for students who are fans of The Liar’s Society series. Scholastic is offering a free Liar’s Society journal for students who pre-order Book #3.
Families can use the flyer below to both place a pre-order (if you haven’t already) and submit proof of purchase to receive the free journal. It’s a fun way to keep students engaged and excited about reading!

These are important conversations. All parents, staff, and community members are encouraged to attend any or all of the Community Conversations. The second two will build upon the first two:
- March 31 – South High – 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Seasonal Allergy Info from Nurse O
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Seasonal allergies, also known as hay fever or seasonal allergic rhinitis, are allergy symptoms that occur during certain times of the year, usually when outdoor molds release their spores, or trees, grasses and weeds release tiny pollen particles into the air.
If your child tends to display severe allergy symptoms, please talk with your doctor to see if a daily non-drowsy antihistamine, nasal spray, or eye drop would be a good idea. School nurses are attentive to symptoms of runny nose, congestion, sore throat, headache, and cough as these are symptoms of allergies and colds as well as other viral and bacterial illnesses. The nurses follow a strict protocol to screen students and will determine if a child can stay at school, go home, or need to see a physician to be evaluated.
There is no real cure for seasonal allergies, but it is possible to relieve symptoms. Start by reducing or eliminating exposure to allergens. During allergy season, keep windows closed, use air conditioning if possible, and change your air filter often. It is also a good idea to give your child a bath at night if they have played outside that day.
At school, we are reminding students to wash their hands. In the nurse’s office, we can rinse the eyes if necessary with water and give a cold wet towel to place on the eyes for comfort. If a child is having an extreme reaction, they may stay inside, but this needs to be a temporary solution.
A child may stay in for no more than 1-2 days with a note from the parent. If the child must stay inside for a longer time period, we will need a note from the doctor. It is important for children to have time to run and play outside. The doctor's note can be faxed to the school nurse at 314-415-6059.
If reducing exposure to allergens isn’t possible or is ineffective, medicines can help ease allergy symptoms. There are many non-drowsy antihistamines, nasal sprays, and eye drops available as a prescription and over the counter. Many of these medicines can be taken at home once or twice a day.
** In order to reduce the severity of allergy symptoms in a person with known seasonal allergies, it helps to start the medication on a daily basis before pollination starts. This is much more effective in controlling symptoms than taking the medicine on an as-needed basis.
Please talk with your physician about what would be best for your child and remember that a consent form from the parent and a physician’s order is needed to give medications at school. The doctor can fax the order to the school nurse at 314-415-6059.
Sincerely,
Michelle Osterholt, BSN, RN, NCSN

SEL Survey
As part of our ongoing commitment to student well-being, Parkway administers two social-emotional learning (SEL) surveys to students in grades 3–12. Your child completed this 10-15 minute survey in October and will complete the survey again during regular school hours during the window of March 23 through April 3.
Even though students in kindergarten through second grade do not take this survey, their teachers will complete a brief perception survey (as teachers at all grade levels do) to provide additional insight into their social-emotional strengths and growth areas.
This research-based survey helps us better understand how students are feeling about school, relationships, and learning so we can more effectively support their success. All survey responses are confidential and are only accessed by authorized school personnel. The data is never shared with outside parties and is not used to diagnose or label students.
To review questions that will appear on the survey, there is an FAQ page that also provides additional information requested by some parents last year. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Dr. Erin Schulte-Hamilton, Parkway's Coordinator of Counseling and Character Education, via eschulte@parkwayschools.net.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting every student's growth and success.
