April 13, Monday Memo

King's Highway Families,

We hope all of our students and families enjoyed some much‑needed time outdoors over the weekend and are feeling refreshed for the week ahead. As a reminder, PSSA testing begins next week, and we appreciate everyone’s support in helping our students feel confident, rested, and ready to do their best. Please also note that we will have an early dismissal on Wednesday, April 15th.

We will begin PSSA testing next week for all students in grades 3-5.

ELA testing will take place from Tuesday, April 21st through Thursday, April 23rd.

Math will be tested on Monday, April 28th and Tuesday, April 29th.

Science will be tested on Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st for 5th grade students only.

It will be important to ensure students are getting rest and eating breakfast on testing days. We ask that students give their best effort on the test and appreciate your support in sharing the same message. Attendance and arriving to school on time are imperative to student success! We appreciate all of your cooperation. Vacation request will not be granted during the testing window.

Students will follow an adjusted scheduel during PSSA testing.

Tie Dye on Wednesday

On Wednesday April 15th for PTO Fun Day, we are Tie Dying our field day shirts! Students will get to choose one of three designs, rubber band their shirts, and dye their shirt. Shirts are provided by the PTO (THANK YOU!). Students should wear comfortable clothes that can get messy, as we will be engaging in hands‑on activities. They will be using dye bottles to color their t-shirt.

Field Day – May 15 | Volunteers Needed THIS WEDNESDAY

Did you know the PTO helps plan and support Field Day? Every year students receive a PTO-funded Field Day t-shirt—and this year they’ll help create them!

We’ve had a change in plans and will now be tie-dyeing shirts on the half-day this Wednesday, 4/15. Students will rubber-band their shirts during the day and volunteers will help them apply dye to create their designs. It’s going to be a fun (and a little messy!) experience—and we really need your help to make it happen.

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with:

Helping students with rubber-banding and dyeing shirts (during school hours)

Especially for younger grades—no experience needed! (Clearances required on file with the front office.)

Helping keep the process moving smoothly during the event

Please contact the KHoffice@casdschools.org if you are able to volunteer for the tie dye!

The PTO is providing all of the t-shirts, and each grade will use specific colors—these will become their Field Day shirts. Afterward, the PTO will wash the shirts to set the dye and add the King’s Highway Pride logo.

We need lots of hands to pull this off! If you are available even for just one hour anytime between 9:30–12:30 on Wednesday, please come by and help out after checking in at the office.
