Weekly Westwood Community Bulletin - Week of 8/17- 8/21
Week Four at Westwood! 🐬
Dear Westwood Families,
We are already entering our fourth week of school, and I want to thank you for helping us get the year off to such a positive start! Our Kona Ice celebration was a great success, and I especially appreciate everyone’s cooperation in following our parking and drop-off procedures. The improvement has been wonderful to see!
As we settle into our daily routines, we are focusing on building good habits that help our students be successful. One of our goals this year is to improve student attendance. Every day at school matters, and being here consistently helps students stay connected to their learning, teachers, and friends.
To celebrate our students’ commitment to being at school, we will be hosting monthly Attendance Parties for our Primary, Intermediate, and SDC Structure classes with the best attendance. We are excited to recognize and celebrate our classes for making attendance a priority!
Thank you in advance for your partnership and support as we work together to make regular attendance a school-wide habit.
School Site Council Voting
Please take a moment to read the information below and cast your vote for our School Site Council (SSC) parent representatives. Your participation is important as we establish our SSC for the 2026–27 school year. We appreciate your voice and support!
Lunch with a Loved One 💙

Lunch with a Loved One
Wednesday 9/9
Lunch with a Loved One 💙
Lunch with a Loved One is a special event where we invite parents and loved ones to come to school, bring lunch, and enjoy a meal with their student.
Because this event will take place at the end of the school day, all parents and loved ones must check in through the office. Students who are having lunch with their loved one will be dismissed with them at the conclusion of the event.
If you are unable to attend, please don’t worry! Our amazing cafeteria will be providing a special lunch for all students that day.
We are excited to bring this new tradition to Westwood as a way to encourage family involvement and create a special experience for our students. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 9! More details and information about check-in and lunch procedures will be shared in the coming weeks.
We look forward to seeing our Westwood families there! 🐬💙
Online Data Confirmation
Families, please take a few minutes to complete Online Data Confirmation (ODC). Completing ODC ensures that your child’s school has current contact information and all required annual forms for the school year. To complete ODC: If you need clarity on the above steps, or would like to see screenshots, please view this document or call our school's office. Every completed confirmation helps our school stay connected with families and better equips us to support students. Thank you for partnering with us and helping us start the year strong!
A gentle reminder that we need your help. A large chunk of our funding comes from our online data confirmation. We are handing out prizes to students that complete it along with a pizza party for the first classes to reach 100% in both primary and intermediate.
Pick Up/Drop Off - Friday was much improved!
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
Please work with us to Board Policy states that a student is allowed 14 illness days for the school year. After this time a medical note is required or the absence is NOT excused.
Examples of unexcused absences include missing school due to:
- Going out of town or on vacation
- Attending weddings
- Oversleeping
- A parent/guardian/sibling having an appointment
- Not having a babysitter
- Attending a graduation
Guardians have 10 days to clear an absence before it is considered unexcused regardless of reason. After 10 days, the absence cannot be changed.
If a child is on an intra-district transfer from another school, regular attendance is mandatory and required to approve the intra-district agreement.
