A Note From Mr. Chapman

What a busy first month and a half of school. This year has started of with a flury of activity and adjustments to our new two lunch schedule. This has provided some unique challenges but overall change has been positive and opened some new opportunities. Not only did it make our scheduling easier so more students are in classes they wanted but there have been some new additions of events or opportunities during lunch. Here are a couple that happened this month:

Spirit Assembly

Student council organized and planned a wonderful back to school assembly with games and fun spirit activities. Our Cheer and Dance team performed and we were able to kick of the school year right. Students were shown proper uniform etiquette and we passed out awards from last year to the 10-11 grade students that earned them!

W.I.N Time

One of the benefits of having two lunches that are longer is the opportunity for academic intervention time or "What I Need" time. Students are able to connect with teachers and get additional help, retake assessments, or tutor other students. This is a valuable time that can really help with catching up after absences, relearning a concept, or making up class time if they miss. The process runs through the classroom teacher for permission to enter the halls at lunch time.

Club Rush!

Another great event that happened this year was a club rush day where students were able to sign up for one or more clubs during their lunch time. Clubs set up a "club faire" of sorts in the cafeteria during lunch with swag, candy and information so kids could talk, shop around, and sign up for what sounds fun. Clubs included, Key Club, National Honor Society, Culture Club, Design Club, Speech and Debate, Mock Trial, Sewing and Crochet Club, Garden Club, and golf club. We are always looking for ways to get students involved and give them opportunities to connect.

End of Quarter

With the end of the quarter just around the corner please come see us during the drop in Parent Teacher Conferences on October 8 (see flyer below). As always if you ever have a need or a concern about your child's progress please reach out to our teachers, they are available to answer questions. We are looking forward to seeing you next week!

Each quarter this year will have an assembly for our high school students to celebrate students who have shown great Focus, Integrity, Respect, and Empathy. We will also celebrate student who have great attendance and behavior. I hope this encourages a continued increase in positive culture that we have been seeing amongst our students.

Thank You!

I want to take a moment to thank all of the parents at IACS for such a smooth start to the year. In my last newsletter I talked about how important it is to be unified and to approach each situation with respect. All my interactions with parents this year have been positive in nature, so thank you for coming with open minds, having a conversation, and working together for a solution. You have all been tremendous examples for your children!

Boosters Boosters

Fuel the Flight

Our Fuel the Flight Month of Giving is underway!

This year we're doing things a little differently. Instead of asking families to sell products, we're asking our families, friends, alumni, and community to give directly to our secondary arts programs.

How to Participate

Scan the QR code in the image below to donate now.

Send the link to grandparents, aunts and uncles, family friends, neighbors, coworkers, alumni or anyone who would like to support your student and the arts at IACS.

When making a donation, supporters will be asked to enter a student's first and last name. We are collecting the student name only so the Booster Club can count the number of donations each student brings in for our free dress day incentive.

Donations do not go into an individual student's account and are not designated for that student. All donations go toward supporting our secondary arts programs.

You'll See the Impact!

We want our families to see exactly what their support is making possible. As our fundraising total reaches the amount needed to provide a specific program needs, we'll share what has been funded and which program it supports.

We want to keep our families informed, celebrate each need we're able to meet, and show the impact of your generosity throughout the campaign.

Did You Know?

Your donation may qualify for the Idaho Education Tax Credit, which can provide eligible Idaho taxpayers with a state income tax credit of up to 50% of their donation, subject to Idaho's annual limits.
