It's A Great Day to Be A Bulldog! Bulldogs Don't Quit!
Principal's Note
Week of September 14th-18th
MES Families,
It is hard to believe we are already just a few weeks away from our fall parent-teacher conferences! It doesn’t seem real—we just started school! The weeks are flying by, and we are so proud of the learning, growth, and connections taking place throughout our building. We look forward to visiting with families and sharing the progress our students are making.
Our candy bar and pretzel rod fundraiser is off to a great start! Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. We would like all money turned in by Thursday, September 17. We appreciate your help as we work together to support the many opportunities and experiences we provide for our students.
Thursday, September 17, is also Constitution Day, a time to honor our country and reflect on what it means to be a citizen. Our classrooms have activities and lessons prepared to help students learn about the Constitution, citizenship, and perhaps even the Preamble to our Constitution!
We also want to take a moment to recognize Patriot Day, which we observed on Friday, September 11, in honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Our students showed wonderful patriotism and respect as they reflected on the importance of this day. We are especially grateful to the men and women of Marshall County who went by the school on Friday so we could show our love and support. Their presence meant so much to our students and staff.
Finally, a quick note about school safety drills. We are required to conduct several drills throughout the school year, including fire, tornado, lockout, lock-in, and lockdown drills. We completed a fire drill in August and will have a tornado drill next week. These practices help us prepare and ensure that everyone knows how to respond in an emergency. So far, our students have navigated these drills very well and have done an excellent job following directions. We appreciate their cooperation and the support of our staff in making safety a priority.
Thank you for being such an important part of our MES family. We are grateful for your continued support and partnership as we work together to help every learner grow and thrive.
It’s a great day to be a Bulldog!
Let's have a wonderful week!

26-27 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK
26-27 MES Parent Handbook
Our Parent Handbook is an important resource that outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures for the school year. It includes information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations, communication, and ways families can stay engaged in their child’s learning.
We ask that families review the handbook prior to the first day of school so that everyone is familiar with our school guidelines. Please continue to reference it throughout the year whenever questions arise. Working together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for every child.
Attendance Matters!
Flags of Remembrance: Honoring September 11th
Our students took time to honor and remember September 11th by waving American flags as community service members drove past our school. This simple but meaningful act of service was a reminder of the lives lost, the heroes who stepped forward, and the strength and unity our country showed during one of the most tragic days in our history. It is important that we continue to remember September 11th and teach our students about the courage, compassion, and patriotism that came from such a difficult moment in our nation’s history.
🥚 Egg-cellent Adventures in Kindergarten! 📖
🥚🍳 Crack-ing the Code on Humpty Dumpty & Exploring the Public Library! 📚
Our Kindergarteners have been diving into the classic world of nursery rhymes with a fun, hands-on twist! To help save Humpty Dumpty from his famous fall, our young scientists put on their thinking caps for an egg-citing STEM experiment. Students tested various materials—from soft cotton balls to sturdy bubble wrap—to design protective padding that would keep their raw egg safe during a drop test. Through this egg-cellent activity, our little learners explored early physics concepts, tested their hypotheses, and learned firsthand about trial and error!
Bright-eyed kindergarteners also stepped into the public library this week, eager to explore every colorful corner. Their curiosity lit up the room as they went from one exciting discovery to the next. Their big smiles said it all—it was an unforgettable adventure full of wonder, fun, and new favorite spots.

Respect
We follow the three R's in our building.
Be Ready
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
AND Be Safe
CharacterStrong – Week 3: Respect
Part of showing Respect is treating others with care. What would this look like at school? We can show Respect by holding the door open for someone, raising our hand instead of shouting out an answer, or allowing others a chance to play a game at recess. We can also treat the supplies and things we use with care, like putting the markers away or cleaning up our trash in the cafeteria. Look for ways you can show Respect to people AND things today!
