Dear Winton Families,

Dear Families,

We hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you that parent-teacher conferences are coming up on Thursday, March 27, at night and during the day on Friday, March 28. These conferences are a wonderful opportunity to check in about your student both academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our teachers and students work hard to prepare for these meetings, and it is our goal to achieve 100% attendance. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.

After Spring Break , our students and teachers will begin preparing for upcoming state assessments. Students in grades 3 through 5 will take the ISAT in English Language Arts and Math, with 5th graders also completing the Science ISAT. Additionally, our K-3 students will take the Idaho Reading Indicator (IRI) in mid-May. Our teachers and students are working tirelessly to ensure the best outcomes on these important assessments. Your support at home—encouraging good rest, healthy meals, and a positive mindset—can make a big difference in student success.

If you have any questions about these assessments or how to best support your child, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education! If you have any questions or concerns, please stop by the office and speak with an administrator—we have an open-door policy and are happy to help!

Thank you!

Eileen Blough (Principal)

Kathleen Corbeill ( Asst. Principal)

Reading, Every Word Counts! 📖

Most of us know that reading offers many benefits, but it’s helpful to spell them out, especially if we’re faced with reluctant readers. Who are reluctant readers? They’re the 27% of adults who haven’t read a book in the last year, a statistic that’s up, according to Pew, by 10% from a decade ago. Parents know that reading requires some self-discipline and patience; and, the truth is, it doesn’t always provide the instant gratification that streaming movies and video games does. But, the better we understand the benefits of reading, the more disciplined we can be about supporting our children’s healthy reading habits and encouraging them to spend time with books.

PE Reminder PE Reminder

Attention Winton Families 👟

Please remember that students are not allowed to wear snow boots during PE class. Snow boots ruin our gym floors and students tend to have more accidents while wearing their snow boots. During the winter months, students should keep an extra pair of tennis shoes in their locker for PE days. While the school does have a limited number of shoes available to borrow, we’ve noticed that about half of each class is needing them each week. If a student does not have the appropriate shoes on their PE day, they will need to sit out for that period.
