Hendrickson High School

Hawk News10/17/2025Hendrickson High School

Message from Principal Grebb:

The new grading period begins on Tuesday, October 21st, and it’s a great time for reflection and renewal. If you’re pleased with your progress so far, keep up the excellent work. If you’re looking to improve, this marks the perfect opportunity for a fresh start after a well-deserved four-day weekend.

As we enter the second nine weeks, please keep in mind that it’s the shortest grading period of the year, with the Thanksgiving break and the semester ending before the winter holidays. Stay consistent, stay focused, and make every day count, when you show up and put in the effort, amazing things happen.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all of our students, staff, parents, and community members for contributing to a successful first quarter. It truly takes all of us working together, moving in the same direction, to create outstanding experiences and outcomes for our students.

As we move forward, let’s bring the same focus, determination, and spirit of learning that set Hawk Nation apart.

PUCKER UP! Hendrickson FFA’s Kiss the Pig Fundraiser is BACK!

The Hawk who raises the most money will have to kiss a pig at halftime of the Homecoming game!

This year, all proceeds benefit the Flatwater Foundation, an organization that provides access to mental health therapy for individuals and families facing cancer. Every dollar helps connect people with therapists to clear their mind, heal their body, and find the strength to take on a diagnosis.

Support your favorite Hawk and make a difference!

FAFSA is Open (Class of 2026) FAFSA is Open (Class of 2026)

Dear Senior Parents and Guardians,

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is officially open for the Class of 2026! Completing the FAFSA is the most important step in securing financial aid for college, trade school, or career training programs.

This application determines eligibility for:

  • Federal grants (money you don’t repay)

  • Work-study opportunities

  • Low-interest federal student loans

  • Many state and college-specific scholarships

How the FAFSA Works This Year:

  1. The student begins the FAFSA with their own username and password.

  2. The student will then invite one parent/guardian (called a “contributor”) to log in with their own username and password.

  3. That parent completes their section, and then the FAFSA is submitted.

Important: Only one parent needs to fill out the FAFSA. Which parent is used depends on the family situation:

  • Married parents (to each other): Both parents’ information is included, but only one parent logs in as the contributor.

  • Divorced/separated parents: Use the parent the student lived with most in the past 12 months (or who provided more financial support).

    • If that parent is remarried, the stepparent’s info must be included too.

  • Single, never married parent: Only that parent’s info is needed.

Why act quickly?

  • Some financial aid is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Many colleges require the FAFSA on file before awarding scholarships.

  • Even if you don’t think you qualify, it’s still worth completing.

  • You’ll need your 2024 tax information to complete the form.

Texas College Week – ApplyTexas Opportunity Texas College Week – ApplyTexas Opportunity

Texas College Week – ApplyTexas Opportunity
During the new Free Texas College Week (October 13–19, 2025), students can submit applications to Texas colleges using ApplyTexas www.applytexas.org at no cost. This is a great chance to explore college options and submit applications if you haven’t yet.

Recommendation: If financially possible, we highly encourage students to complete their college applications earlier through Common App www.commonapp.org. Applying early can give you more time to explore scholarships, financial aid, and ensure everything is submitted on time.

*Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch can receive a waiver for college application fees, so they don’t need to wait for Free Texas College Week to apply.

The Central Texas Chapter-Southern University Alumni is thrilled to once again introduce students to our beloved alma mater. We would love to visit your campus to share more about this opportunity.

Jaguar Preview Day is when we take high school juniors and seniors to visit Southern University (SU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This is a great opportunity to learn about all the campus has to offer in terms of academic programs, student life and the culture of the only HBCU system in the nation.

You can have them taken either at the studio in Cedar Park anytime before the deadline or on campus November 11 or 12. Regardless of where they are taken, you must make an appointment on the Cady.com website. There is a free yearbook only option or you can pay a sitting fee for more scene and outfit choices.

Underclassman Re-takes

If your underclassman missed school photos or needs a re-take, they will be October 28 in the library during Talon and all lunches. Students just need to make their way to the library sometime during that time period.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are on sale at Yearbookforever.com. The price of senior tribute ads increases on October 18. Yearbook prices increase at the end of January.
