News from the Principal

Greetings WE Families,

It has been another wonderful week at Westchester. It is always a pleasure to welcome the students and staff back after a break. I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable February break.

This week has been a fun and important celebration of Black History. Our building is full of stories the children explored and created about the importance of Black Americans' contributions, past and present. We are excited to see our Family Tree grow, which Ms. Howarth created, that was inspired by the Black artist Radcliffe Bailey. I was impressed by Ms. Montgomery's first graders' artistic eye as they explored Bailey's collage work during their Art lesson. They were inspired by the “vibrant colors” and “similar patterns” in the “background” as they created their own collages.
