From the SLT – Week 9, Term 3
As we approach the end of Term 3, we want to recognise the tremendous effort our learners and staff have put in over the past ten weeks. It’s been a busy, exciting term filled with learning, achievement, and opportunities to shine.
Next week, our Year 8 PYP Exhibition begins, and we couldn’t be prouder of our Year 8 learners. They’ve spent weeks researching, collaborating, and creating action plans around causes they care deeply about. This event is a significant part of their learning journey at TNIS and is a true celebration of their growth and hard work.
Our Year 7 Passion Projects have also been a real highlight. These projects showcase the creativity, curiosity, and capability of our Year 7 learners as they explore areas they are passionate about and share their learning with others.
Special congratulations go to all our learners who represented TNIS at the AIMS Games in Tauranga. We are incredibly proud of the way you competed and demonstrated the TNIS Way and sportsmanship throughout the week. A massive shoutout to our Mixed Hockey Team, who achieved an impressive result! Third place in the national competition is amazing!
We also welcome back our Japan Cultural Exchange group, who had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Japanese culture, traditions, and school life at Sanda Gakuen. Later in the newsletter, you can read more about their adventures and the memories they’ve brought back.
Finally, we want to thank all our parents and whānau for your support throughout Term 3. From assisting at events to supporting learning at home, your contributions make a real difference. We wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday break when it arrives.
Ngā mihi nui,
The TNIS Senior Leadership Team

TNIS JAPAN CULTURAL EXCHANGE
This September, 15 lucky learners embarked on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Japan, embracing everything from typhoons and scorching heat to breathtaking castles, serene gardens, thrilling theme parks, and delicious Japanese food. They experienced fun surprises like indoor school slippers, women-only train carriages, robot toilets, and vending machines on every corner while attending full school days—even on Saturdays—where they joined lessons and helped teach English. The most meaningful part was living with homestay families who welcomed them warmly, making the journey not just a trip but an unforgettable cultural exchange filled with growth, learning, and lasting friendships.
We aim to make this a recurring trip, so year 7's think about it for next year!
