The Weekly Update #4
July 10th, 2025
Help Students Retain Information
Elevate your mathematics instruction with this engaging training that was originally presented by Dr. Paul Riccomini at PaTTAN. Tailored for educators across all grade levels (K-12), this training focuses on equipping teachers with research-based strategies to enhance acquisition and retention of critical mathematical concepts and skills throughout the academic year. In this training, participants will dive into the cognitive science behind learning and retention, exploring how students acquire and maintain mathematical knowledge. With a focus on practical applications, teachers will learn how to incorporate high-impact strategies into their classrooms, including blocked practice, spaced learning over time, interleaving, and retrieval practice. These techniques are designed to make practice sessions more intentional, engaging, and effective in fostering both initial acquisition and long-term mathematical understanding. This is a two part training, and participants must attend both days.
When and Where
Both days of the training will be held at the ARIN Central Office, from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm. Participants must attend both of the days listed below. Lunch will be on your own.

Participant Information
Participants are encouraged to bring their mapped out curriculum/lessons for the year if they have one. If not, they can just bring notes of content and skills taught up to this point in the school year. It would also be beneficial if participants bring a teacher manual and laptop.
Below are agendas for each day.
