March begins with the Eclipse Season, which began with the last New Moon in Pisces on 27 February.
Each year an Eclipse Season is divided into 2 parts, with a "break" of 6 months between them. This year the first season started on 27 February and will end with the Full Moon in Libra on 13 April. During this time we will have 2 eclipses:
- 14 March: Total Lunar Eclipse in Virgo
- 29 March: Partial Solar Eclipse in Aries
An eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon and Earth make a particular alignment during a New or Full Moon. Either the Earth covers the Moon because it is between the Sun and the Moon, creating a Lunar Eclipse, or the Moon "covers" the Sun - from our point of view - creating a Solar Eclipse.
These events usually occur in pairs, although in some years we can have up to 3 eclipses in a single season.
But, why are eclipses so important and catch so much attention?
These events - astronomical and astrological - make us realize that we are part of something much bigger. They are the only astrological events that can create a prediction, mark changes such as the end of a job or a move to another city, and take us from a certain action/situation to an inner shift that strips us of things we no longer need, to make room for others that align us with our mission. Through situations in different areas of our lives, these events awaken us from autopilot to align with our potential, to know ourselves better, to stop being an obstacle in our own way, and to awaken our potential. The further away we are from our purpose and the more we listen to the voice of the ego and the rational mind, the stronger the eclipses will feel.
