Principal's Corner
Dear FamiLEE,
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in helping our students succeed. Your involvement and encouragement make a tremendous difference in your child’s academic growth and overall school experience.
We would like to remind families of the importance of daily, on-time attendance. Being at school on time every day sets students up for success, as consistent attendance is closely connected to performance in the classroom. Missed time often means missed learning opportunities.
We also expect all students to follow the Lee High School Code of Conduct daily. Please take time to discuss these expectations with your young adult and encourage them to make positive choices that support a safe and respectful learning environment.
We are also excited to invite you to our LHS Magnet 40th Anniversary Alumni Celebration on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We look forward to celebrating our legacy and hope you will join us for this special evening.
Thank you again for your continued support as we work together to ensure a successful school year for every student.
Sincerely,
Kitrise Torain
LHS Principal

Magnet Minute
Shout out to Creative Writing Magnet authors Janell Benson, Tamara King, and Anna Rhea McCombs for practicing so diligently for Poetry Out Loud regionals next week. Mr. Boykin heard them and immediately went to share with Ms. Sisson how amazing and inspiring they are! Also, the Harmoniouslee team was nationally recognized for the third year in a row by REALM! This is exactly what the editors needed as they finished editing their first proof this week.
The Theatre Magnets are currently working on 3 shows: The Lee Legacy: 40-year Anniversary Celebration will take place Jan. 31st from 5:00 - 8:00. A mix & mingle social hour with food, beverages, and alumni performances will take place in the theatre lobby from 5:00 - 6:30, and The Lee Legacy show will begin at 6:30 on the Mainstage. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. (Abridged) (Revised) (Again) will open Feb. 5th and run through Feb. 7th. Chicago the Teen Edition will open March 26th and run weekends through April 4th.
The Visual Arts Magnet will be hosting their Valentine's Art Show at Turbo Coffee Feb. 13th - 15th.

- Shout out to our Students of the Week,
Announcements
New HCS Wireless Communication Device Policy: We want to inform you about an important update to our school policies in response to a new state law. On May 14, 2025, Governor Kay Ivey signed the FOCUS Act (Freeing Our Classrooms of Unnecessary Screens for Safety) into law. This law, which went into effect July 1, 2025, requires public schools across Alabama to limit student use of wireless communication devices during the instructional day to improve focus, safety, and engagement. In compliance with this law, Huntsville City Schools will implement a district-wide Wireless Communication Device (WCD) Policy beginning Fall 2025. Please click here to review the new HCS Wireless Communication Device policy.
Attendance
We want your child to be in school with us every day! Attendance is the most important factor in your child's academic success. We can't teach children who aren't at school. We have a goal of 95% this year. Please help us reach this goal by ensuring your child is here every day. If you child has to be out, please send excuses to LHS.attendance@hsv-k12.org.
