CAVALIER Chronicle
WELCOME TO THE 22-23 SCHOOL YEAR

It's a Great Week to be a Cavalier!
Happy Sunday Cavalier Families!
We hope that you have had a good weekend! We are getting down to the final days of this marking period. This week, all students will take a benchmark test in Math, Science, and English Language Arts. 8th graders will also take one in Social Studies (6th and 7th grade have different assessments that they take each unit). These tests will help teachers see how well students have mastered the learning of the past eight weeks. Please encourage your student to do their best!
Beginning on Tuesday, students will need to have their Yondr pouch out and ready when they enter the building. Having it ready means that their phone and other devices (watch, headphones, etc.) will need to be in the pouch, but the pouch should be unlocked. They will hand their unlocked pouch to a staff member as they enter and the staff member will lock the pouch and hand it back to them. Students without a device will enter through a separate line and will be checked in and placed on a no device list. If a student forgets their pouch, they may surrender their device(s) at the entry line and we will secure it in the AP office for the day (multiple surrenders over time will result in disciplinary consequences). If a student is placed on the no device list and then is caught with a device later, disciplinary consequences will occur. The expectation is and has been that students have their devices in their Yondr pouch during the school day and this process will help to ensure that we maintain a phone free environment. We will explain this process to students on Monday so that they understand what to do. We appreciate your support in this process.
We will host a Hispanic Heritage Night Family Event this Thursday, October 10th. We hope that you will be able to join us (see flyer below)! We also will have a spirit week this week and we encourage all of our students to participate as much as they can.j
Fall break is next week (October 14th-18th) and campuses will be closed.
If your or your student would like to help out or donate for this event please scan the QR code. If you would like to help in anyway please return the slip to the school by your student or contact Mrs. Hill or Mr. Cooper.

Parents/Guardians should only be driving in the yellow area indicated on the map.
The red area is for buses only. Parents who enter the red area are putting students and staff at risk as there is limited visibility when buses are present.
