Greetings fellow Lions,
I hope that everyone had a great January despite the cold and snow. Please keep me in your prayers. I am going into Philadelphia February 3rd to have a procedure done.
Please note the change of venue for the District Cabinet Meeting on February 7th. I found out last week that the church in Parkesburg double booked the date with the Scout's Pinewood Derby and we had to find another venue.
Penningtonville Presbyterian Church
406 Main Street
Atglen, PA 19310
Cabinet Meeting starts at 9:00 AM
Special Meeting of PDGs to vote to install Lion Demetrios Thermenos as 2nd VDG starts at 8:30.
I have visited a number of clubs in January but unfortunately had to cancel a few due to hospitalization. Visiting clubs is the thing I enjoy most about being District Governor. It is great meeting everyone and learning more about their clubs and the types of service and fundraising activities everyone is doing. While visiting the clubs I have been presenting Chevron Awards to Lions to commemorate their length of service within Lions. We as Lions should be grateful for everyone's commitment and dedication to service. I feel honored to present awards to members who served for 30, 40, 50 years and even longer. We have a Lion within our District, Lion Robert A. Adams of the Oxford Club who received an 80 year Chevron. Congratulations and thank you for your years of service.

Hello Lions friends,
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to take part in some incredibly
meaningful events as part of my Lions leadership journey. I attended the Vice
District Governor training weekend alongside my fellow VDGs at the state office
in Harrisburg. It was an energizing and collaborative experience that reinforced our
shared commitment to serving our local communities through meaningful service
and strong leadership.
I also had the distinct honor of inducting the Avon Grove High School Leo Club
officers and welcoming their new members into the Lions family. Seeing the
passion and leadership in these young individuals was truly inspiring—they are the
future of our organization and a powerful reminder of the impact we can make
together.
Soon, I will be heading back to Harrisburg for the 3rd State Council Meeting. In
addition to important discussions and planning, we’ll also be coming together for a
hands-on service project—packaging food that will be distributed to food banks.
It's another great example of how we, as Lions, live out our mission of service at
every level.

is from rentals.
We ask that you include the attached rental flyer in your District Newsletters.
To make rental arrangements and to include specific services, please contact Lion Kelly McMullen, Programs Director at 814-542-2511or Kellym@beaconlodge.org.

More Lions Means More Service

LEO AND LION CUBS PAST SERVICE AND FUNDRAISERS
__22 cubs and 1 advisor met for the first time in 2026. We kicked off our meeting by discussing kindness. We talked about how we can show kindness to ourselves, to family at home, to peers at school, and everybody in our community. We brainstormed small ways to show kindness in each area. After, each cub received a blank calendar for January, and they wrote down one way on each day we can perform an act of kindness (even something as small as saying hi or thanking somebody that may not be thanked often). They took home the calendar as a reminder as well as notes of positivity that they cut out to spread around their school, home, and community.
story: Eric Smith
Cubs participated in a "New Years Resolution” Icebreaker activity. The EC Lions also created a vision board of the goals and good deeds that they would like to accomplish for the new year. The students also created a kindness calendar for the month of January. Students were able to brainstorm and write down all the different things that they could do to make a difference in our community. The students were excited to start the new year off with various acts of kindness.
story & pics - Laura Nesley
This month the Lion Cubs created encouragement cards to brighten someone’s day. During our meeting, students learned about the Lions’ mission of service and the importance of kindness in the community. They selected from pre-written positive messages or used sentence starters to write their own notes. Students decorated their cards and reflected on how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact. This project focused on empathy, positivity, and community care, giving our Lion Cubs a hands-on way to serve others even within our school.
17 cubs and 2 advisors met for our January meeting. We completed our annual winter activity, where we decorate snowflakes and hang them on the staff's doors to welcome in the new year and celebrate winter. This is a beloved tradition as the cubs love to run around the building to make sure each and every staff member gets a snowflake.
Our next meeting is February 19th when we will begin to prepare for our Spring Food Drive.
