Good Afternoon,

What a wonderful week of learning and growth at Livingston Avenue School! Our students continued to challenge themselves, try new things, support one another, and make progress both inside and outside the classroom. Every day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and Own Your Impact!

As we welcome the first signs of fall, we are also celebrating the excitement and energy that comes with a new season. From changing leaves to cooler days, there is so much to look forward to! We are proud of the way our Cougars continue to learn, grow, and make a positive difference in our school community. Keep growing, Cougars!

Also, with Halloween falling on a Saturday, please know that we will hold our annual parade the Friday beforehand (10/30). On that day, we will hold one lunch period (11:40-12:40) to make it easier on parents/guardians that choose to pick up their child(ren) to take them home to get into costume. Please take a moment to complete this form to let us know if your child(ren) will be going home or staying at school. Further, if you do plan to take them home, please be sure to not place a lunch order with Pomptonian on that day. More details on the parade and parties will come out soon.

As always, I am available for any questions or concerns you may have at lopez.cari@cranfordschools.org.

Have a great day!

Cari Lopez

🐾 Celebrating Our September Cougar Champs! 🐾

This morning, our September Cougar Champs were treated to an extra recess with Ms. Lopezβ€”and we had an absolute blast! πŸŽ‰

Each Thursday, we celebrate our students by sharing the number of Cougar Champ recognition slips earned by each grade level. Then, on the final Thursday of each month, we randomly select 12 students to be our Monthly Cougar Champs!

Congratulations to our September winners! We are so proud of the way they are Owning Their Impact and showing what it means to Lead, Act, and Succeed at LAS. 🐾

Keep encouraging your child to make positive choices, show kindness, take responsibility, and do the right thing. You never know when your child might be our next Cougar Champ! πŸ’™

Celebrating Our Custodians

Today, we proudly celebrated National Custodian’s Day by recognizing two very special members of our LAS family, Mr. Max and Mr. Joydeep!

Our custodians do so much more than keep our school clean and running smoothlyβ€”they help make Livingston Avenue School a welcoming, safe, and positive place for students and staff each and every day. Their hard work, dedication, and willingness to always lend a helping hand do not go unnoticed.

We are incredibly grateful for everything Mr. Max and Mr. Joydeep do for our school community. Thank you for all that you do to make LAS a place we are proud to call home!

Happy National Custodian’s Day, Mr. Max and Mr. Joydeep!

Student Liaison Committee

Beginning Monday, LAS students will have the opportunity to apply to serve on the Student Liaison Committee. This committee will give students a voice in school matters and provide an opportunity to share ideas, feedback, and perspectives with school leadership. We encourage interested students to apply and take advantage of this leadership opportunity.

A link for the application will be shared by the teachers in their Google Classroom. Applications are due by 10/19.

We believe student committee applications should reflect the students themselvesβ€”their own ideas, voices, interests, and reasons for wanting to contribute. Parents can certainly encourage and support their children, but the ideas and application should ultimately come from the student, so that the committee represents genuine student perspectives and initiative.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Every fall from September 15th to October 15th, Americans celebrate the contributions of U.S. citizens, residents, and communities with Mexican, Caribbean, South, and Central American and Spanish Heritage through Hispanic Heritage Month. During our morning announcements, classroom activities, and reading of various children's books, we look forward to honoring the contributions from some of these individuals.

Nurse's Corner

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us accurately record and report absences.

Please email las-attendance@cranfordschools.org if you need to:

  1. Report an absence
  2. Report a scheduled tardy arrival
  3. Report that your child will be leaving early

For scheduled tardies and early dismissals, please copy your child’s teacher on the email.

For absences, please include the reason for the absence. If your child is sick, please include their symptoms, as this information helps us track patterns of illness and monitor health trends within our school community.
