Prayer

Loving and merciful Father, we thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus, who taught us how to love, forgive, and seek truth.

We lift up to you the staff and students of our school who are preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we ask you to pour out your Holy Spirit upon them all. Enlighten our minds and hearts so we may recognise where we have fallen short, both in the wrong we have done and the good we have failed to do. Grant us the courage to be honest, the humility to seek forgiveness, and the grace to be instruments of your peace in our classrooms and community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord

Amen

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

We have much to celebrate!

The last few weeks have been a wonderful celebration of the talents and dedication of our staff, students and parents. With the Catholic Performing Arts in full action, Sacred Heart has been very much a part of this wonderful festival.

Our Liturgical Dance Troupe made us very proud when they represented our school at the Catholic Performing Arts (PAF) Opening Ceremony. Our Liturgical Dance troupe were the first Primary School to dance at the opening ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral. Staff and students shared their talents with the congregation reminding us of the theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Love which are the gifts given to us from God in Baptism. We are called to nurture these gifts throughout our lives.

Last Wednesday night, our Contemporary Dance Troupe performed, “Unwritten” at the PAF Dance Concert. On Monday I received a special email from Darryl Windsor the Chair of CPAF informing our school that our Contemporary Dance Troupe received a Merit in the “Creative” section for their performance. We have a deep appreciation for the dedication and hard work that goes into practicing and performing on the night and sincerely thank staff, dancers and their parents for their dedication.

A big congratulations to Suri Yin Min Khing from Year 6 who is the recipient of the Primary School creative division of the Angelico Art Awards. Suri created a beautiful piece of art depicting a landscape. Suri is a very talented artist and has a bright future ahead. Suri's picture can be seen below.

What a wonderful celebration of the artistic talents of our students and the dedication of our staff and parents. It is the combination of all these things that make Sacred Heart such a special place.

God Bless.

Mrs Darlene Min

Hearts Dance Troupe Performance at the Convention Centre 💙

Last Wednesday 5 August, 'The Hearts Dance Troupe' performed at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival for 'Creative Dance' at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre.

The students performed a beautiful jazz piece called 'Unwritten' by Natasha Beddingfield. This dance brings to life a message of possibility, self-discovery and embracing the freedom to create a story that is yet 'unwritten', where anything is possible. The students represented Sacred Heart School with responsibility, resilience, respect and reverence and made us extremely proud. We congratulate them on receiving an award of Merit for their amazing dance skills. Attached below is a copy of their adjudication report.

NAIDOC Week Celebrations at Sacred Heart

Over the past few weeks, our students have been immersed in a rich and meaningful celebration of First Nations culture as part of our NAIDOC Week activities.

We commenced our celebrations with a beautiful whole-school Liturgy, providing an opportunity to honour and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of First Nations peoples. Students then had the privilege of working alongside First Nations artist Keihani, who guided them in creating a series of vibrant whole-school murals. These stunning artworks will enhance our Koort Booja yarning Circle, making it an even more welcoming and engaging space for learning and connection.

The following week, First Nations dancer Suri visited Sacred Heart to teach students Aboriginal history truth telling in his storytelling and cultural dances within their year groups. The experience culminated in a whole-school performance, showcasing the students' learning and enthusiasm. Students were captivated throughout the workshops and thoroughly enjoyed learning about First Nations culture through movement, storytelling and dance.

Students also participated in a whole-school colouring competition, with winners from each class receiving a prize in recognition of their artistic talent. The entries were outstanding, and it was wonderful to see students engaging with NAIDOC Week through art.

To conclude our celebrations, students participated in a range of hands-on cultural activities, including face painting, beading, braiding, biscuit decorating, and tasting damper and yonga stew. The excitement and joy of the students were evident throughout the day.

The grand finale was a particularly moving occasion, as our First Nations students proudly shared their culture and the learning they have been engaged in with Miss Leah during their sessions. It was heartwarming to witness their confidence and pride as they showcased their knowledge and heritage with the wider school community. We were incredibly proud to see them bursting with pride as they shared their stories, culture and achievements.

This year's NAIDOC Week celebrations were meaningful, enjoyable and immersive, providing valuable opportunities for our students to learn, connect and celebrate First Nations culture together. With the 2026 NAIDOC theme of "50 Years of Deadly," we can confidently say that we all had a deadly time during this year's celebrations! We thank everyone who contributed to making these experiences so memorable for our Sacred Heart community.

Milano Derby - Grayson!⚽

Congratulations to Grayson in Year 3 who represented Forrestfield United Soccer club in the Junior parade at Optus Stadium last Wednesday 5 August for the Milano Derby.

Grayson, you looked like you had lots of fun walking around Optus Stadium and enjoying the game afterwards! Thanks for sharing this amazing opportunity you had.

NRL - Melbourne Storm - Lachlan R! 🏈

Last Friday 7 August, Lachlan R from Year 5 joined the NRL Melbourne Storm team with their Captain Run training session. Lachlan assisted on the ground with collecting balls and running water. After the Captain Run Lachlan was able to get some signings and hang with the players.

Saturday 8 August was game day, and Lachlan was one of two experienced ball boys. He was paired with two other ball kids where they had to run the line and replace the ball once it had gone out of touch so the game could continue. Lachlan also had to make sure 40/20 markers which are still standing for the referees!

Congratulations Lachlan! What a fantastic opportunity to have and thank you for sharing your amazing experience with us!
