College GO! Week Spirit Celebration
We celebrated College GO! Week with a fun-filled Spirit Week from Monday, September 29th through Friday, October 3rd. It was a fantastic time for students to show their school pride, and they didn’t disappoint! The energy was high, the creativity was impressive, and the school spirit was on full display all week long!
iReady scores will be coming home
i-Ready testing is given to measure students' growth in reading and math. The assessment helps identify each student’s strengths and areas for improvement by adjusting questions to their skill level. After testing, students receive scores that show their current learning level and help teachers plan instruction to meet their individual needs. These scores also help track progress over time to ensure each student is growing.

October brings lots of fun activities—fall sports, Halloween, and school events—and it’s a great time to review some important safety reminders.
Halloween Safety:
*Wear bright or reflective clothing so you can be seen after dark.
*Stick to well-lit areas and walk in groups.
*Parents, please check all candy before kids eat it.
Cyber Safety: October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Just a reminder to protect your passwords, think before you post, and never share personal information online.
Traffic & Bus Safety: With darker mornings, please slow down in school zones and remind students to use crosswalks. Always stop for buses with their stop arm out.
Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 23–31): Our school will participate in activities promoting healthy choices and drug prevention. I encourage all students to get involved!
October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It’s important to remember that everyone deserves to feel safe at home and in their relationships. If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, threats, or controlling behavior, you are not alone. Help and support are available.
As your School Resource Officer, I am here to listen and connect students and families with resources. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly if you need help or know someone who does. All conversations will be handled with care and respect.
If immediate help is needed outside of school hours, call 911. You can also contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or text “START” to 88788 for confidential support.
Together, we can create a safe and supportive community.
Stay safe, and have a happy October! 🍂 🎃

Time Out for Reading Day was enjoyed by all!
October 3rd marked Time Out for Reading Day — a special day dedicated to celebrating the joy and power of reading. Across the country, schools, workplaces, and families were encouraged to take a meaningful break from their routines to enjoy a good book. Whether for 10 minutes or half an hour, it was a chance to slow down, unplug, and get lost in a great story. A huge THANK YOU to all the wonderful volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to come to ELC and read to our classes. You helped make the day a truly magical experience for our ELC students! Every student went home with a copy of How the Crayons Saved the School a fun reminder of the power of stories and the joy of reading.
