Weekly Update

Dear Oak Brook Families,

The time has arrived! Obee’s Eagle Dash is coming next week! Our kick-off is Wednesday and you can set up your family account super quick at MyBooster.com now! Our celebration fun run will be October 22 for all students. Our fundraising goal is to raise $20,000 toward upgrading the marquee (the electronic sign) at the front of the school!

Families will gather donations through MyBooster.com by simply sharing your student’s page with friends and family. Every share makes a difference!

Students will also enjoy 'Global Kitchen Club,' an exciting character-building adventure where they'll learn important values through recipes and activities popular around the world.

Accessing Books from Home:

Students can access all of the books at Oak Brook library using Destiny Discover. They will Click Login + Sign in with their Google Credentials.

Additionally, students can check out audiobooks and eBooks from home using Sora. Students can access Sora through their MyParkway account. Once on the app, they will be asked to search and type in Parkway School District C-2. Then sign in using their Parkway Google account.

On a personal device using the Sora app, you need to search for Parkway School District C-2 as the first step.

Storybook Pumpkin Patch:

Your family is invited to help us grow a “Storybook Pumpkin Patch” in our library. This involves reading a favorite storybook and then decorating an artificial pumpkin to look like one of the characters. Check out this link to see how your family can participate.

Dear Parents & Guardians,

The dentist is coming to Oak Brook on November 4th! The School Smiles on-site dental program provides comprehensive on-site dental care at our school for students that sign-up to participate and are eligible to be seen. The dental team will set up inside our school to see students for dental cleanings. They accept Medicaid, private insurance, offer self-pay rates and grants through their foundation. Registration is now open online at https://schoolsmiles.com/student-signup/ with over 100 languages to choose from when completing the online form. As a reminder, School Smiles requires a registration form be filled out for each student.

A paper copy registration form will also be coming home with your student this week.

Thank you,

Mrs. Rothrock

We are not to give out bus passes until further notice. This means students may not get on another bus besides their normal bus, even with parent permission. Thank you for understanding as we have crowded buses this year.

Help the PTO by donating snacks and drinks for our October Staff Appreciation lunch! We are looking for snacks and drinks to supplement the lunch provided by the PTO to show our wonderful OB teachers and staff how much we love them! Please drop items off at school (or send them with your kid!) by October 14.

Our playgrounds will be complete with inspections around the middle of November. THE BACK FIELD IS CLOSED FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS SO WE CAN GET SOME GRASS TO GROW! They've hydroseeded it and and are watering it daily. If you live close to OB and like to use the field on nights or weekends, please refrain for the next few weeks. Thank you!
