News from Principal Bunting

Dear Carmen Arace Middle School families,

As we wrap up the 2024–2025 school year, there is so much to celebrate! It has been a true joy watching our students grow both socially and academically. This year, our CAIS scholars showcased their many talents through concerts, art exhibits, Black History and poetry showcases, Guys and Dolls, Jr., History Day, and so much more!

To celebrate the final week of school, students are welcome to dress out of uniform (please note: pajamas are not permitted) and enjoy the following festivities:

  • Monday, June 9: Field Day. Students should wear sneakers and bring sunscreen.
  • Tuesday, June 10: "Lilo & Stitch" Movie Field Trip
  • Wednesday, June 11: Bounce House and Ice Cream Truck

A link to our digital yearbook will be sent out next week.

School may be out for the summer, but the learning never stops! Summer Reading and Math assignments will be distributed before the last day of school. Students will receive a drawstring bag containing:

  • A book
  • A bookmark
  • A pencil
  • Multiplication Flashcards
  • Reading and Math Tasks

Assignments will be due by September 5. Students who complete the work will earn a special incentive!

Monthly attendance emails were sent out earlier this week, including student attendance from the beginning of the year through May 30. This communication is essential to monitoring student progress and addressing chronic absenteeism.

We have updated access to our CAIS Family Feedback form. Please share your thoughts with us by June 11th. Your input is valuable!

Thank you for your continued partnership. We wish you a summer filled with fun, learning, and lasting memories!

Sincerely,

Ms. Bunting

Please read the following message from the Nurse to all 6th Grade (Incoming 7th) Parents/Guardians --

Connecticut state law requires that:

#1 - All students have a complete health assessment during the 6th grade year, and prior to entering 7th grade.

#2 - All students are required to be given Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines during 6th grade, and these are a requirement to enter 7th grade.

Please submit the newest State of CT Physical, signed by the parent/guardian on the front and signed by the doctor on the other pages. Physical exams that date back to January 1, 2024 are acceptable.

We have a school-based health clinic open on Tuesdays. You can visit www.integratedhealthservices.org/registration-forms to have your child seen here for physicals and immunizations. The clinic will also be open 8/19/25.

Students will be excluded from starting 7th grade until this physical exam is on file -- and the immunizations are current and submitted.
