The Bobcat Bulletin

Welcome back to the 2026–2027 school year!
We are so happy to begin a new school year with our Indian Lane families! There is nothing quite like the excitement of the first day, as students reconnect with friends, meet new teachers, and begin a year filled with learning, discovery, and wonderful opportunities.
This afternoon, you will receive your child’s homeroom teacher assignment. Thank you for your patience as we finalized this important information. Families of students with case managers will also hear from them this week with introductions.
A huge shoutout to Mr. Collins, Ms. Mary, Mr. Berry, Mr. Stewart, and the many custodians from across the district who came to Indian Lane to lend a hand during the HVAC construction. Their hard work, teamwork, and dedication have made a tremendous difference as we prepare to welcome students back!
Transportation letters have been mailed to families who use district busing. They include your child’s bus schedule and information about the MyRide K–12 app, a helpful resource for staying up to date on bus schedules. Once routes are finalized, the app will also provide estimated afternoon drop-off times.
At Open House on Thursday, August 27th, families will have the opportunity to meet teachers and visit classrooms.
New families may visit their child’s classroom immediately following orientation. No separate sign-up is needed. We have reserved a time for new students to visit their classrooms after the new student orientation.
Students are welcome to bring their school supplies to Open House. PTG supply kits will be waiting in classrooms, and supply lists are available on our website for families who are still shopping.
Please visit the Food Services website to view menus and set up a MySchoolBucks account, if you have not already done so.
Our PTG also offers an online directory, Membership Toolkit. The PTG will share additional information about Membership Toolkit at Open House and Back-to-School Night on September 8th.

Class Assignments will be shared at 3:00 PM
Many thanks to the staff who worked with me throughout the spring and summer to thoughtfully create class lists. A great deal of time and care goes into this process. Unfortunately, it is not always possible for students to be placed with their closest friends. Students will still have opportunities to connect with friends in other classes during recess, at school-wide events, and through PTG activities.
Because of the many factors that go into creating balanced classrooms, we are not able to make changes to class assignments.
Open House Information!
Kindergarten Families
Kindergarten families will attend one of two Open House sessions:
- AM Kindergarten: 9:00–9:55 AM
- PM Kindergarten: 10:00–10:55 AM
Each session will begin with a welcome presentation in the cafeteria followed by a guided tour of the building. Families will visit important locations including the nurse's office, main office, school counselor office, library, arrival and dismissal areas, the playground, and finally their child's classroom.
New Families (Grades 1–5)
Families who are new to Indian Lane are invited to join us beginning at 12:15 PM for a special New Family Welcome. The afternoon includes check-in, a welcome presentation, staff introductions, and a guided tour of the building before concluding in your child's classroom. This is a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with our school, meet members of our staff, and learn more about life at Indian Lane.
To make the transition from the New Family Welcome to Open House as seamless as possible, new families have already been pre-registered for classroom visit times. There is no need to worry about securing a time slot. If you have more than one child attending Indian Lane, we have reserved consecutive classroom visit times, such as 1:00 PM and 1:20 PM, so you can move directly from the New Family Welcome to each child’s classroom without feeling rushed.
Returning Families (Grades 1–5)
Returning families will attend Open House between 1:00 PM and 2:40 PM. Classroom visit time slots are:
- 1:00–1:20 PM
- 1:20–1:40 PM
- 1:40–2:00 PM
- 2:00–2:20 PM
- 2:20–2:40 PM

We cannot wait to welcome everyone back to Indian Lane and begin another wonderful year together. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, August 27!
Back to School Night- September 8th
Back to School Night is a great opportunity to meet your child's teachers and learn about expectations for the new school year. Back to School Night will begin at 6:00 PM and will end at 7:25 PM. There will be two sessions to allow families to attend for more than one child.
Homeroom Teachers will be sharing additional information about Back To School Night the first week of school.
New Staff Spotlight!
Mrs.Bevan- 2nd Grade!
Amy Bevan has already made a meaningful impact at Indian Lane. She began as a Building Substitute and stepped into long-term substitute positions in both fourth grade and Learning Support last year. Through these experiences, Amy has developed strong connections with many of our students and families and gained a deep understanding of the Indian Lane community. She is dedicated to supporting each child’s growth and creating a classroom environment where students feel known, valued, and encouraged. Amy’s strong work ethic, flexibility, and genuine care for children have been evident in every role she has taken on. She is a thoughtful collaborator, a supportive colleague, and someone who consistently steps up to meet the needs of students and staff. We are thrilled to welcome Amy as a full-time member of our faculty and one of our five second-grade teachers this year.
Mr. Bucolo- Art!
We are excited to welcome Josh Bucolo as our new Art teacher. Josh brings experience teaching art in both elementary and middle school settings, including rotating first-grade classes at Springfield Literacy Center. He has designed inclusive visual-art and sculpture curriculum, coordinated yearly art shows, and supervised a Digital Art Club. Josh also brings direct theater-design experience. At Springfield, he assisted with set design for the school musicals each year. Earlier, at Highland Park Elementary, he helped design sets and costumes for multiple musical productions. His experience with visual art, sculpture, digital art, and theater design will create new opportunities for students to explore, create, and feel proud of their work.
Ms. Koehler- Learning Support!
Maggie Koehler is already a familiar and highly valued member of the Indian Lane community. She began as a member of our support staff, where she made an immediate impact through her care for students and willingness to step in wherever needed. Maggie later completed her student teaching at Indian Lane and continued to impress us during her long-term substitute assignment. Her dedication, strong relationships with children, and steady presence have been evident in every role she has held. We are so excited to have Maggie joining our Learning Support team full-time as the case manager for Kindergarten Learning Support, third grade, and half of fifth grade.
Ms. Paffas- School Counselor!
We are so excited to have two full-time school counselors at Indian Lane this year! Ms. Paffas joins Mrs. Hilden as part of our expanded counseling team. Ms. Paffas comes to us from the Lower Merion School District, where she recently completed a two-year long-term substitute assignment.
To help students and families build consistent, meaningful relationships with their counselors, each counselor will have designated grade-level responsibilities. Mrs. Hilden will support AM Kindergarten, second grade, and fourth grade. Ms. Paffas will support PM Kindergarten, Kindergarten Autistic Support, first grade, and third grade. Both counselors will work with fifth-grade students, with Mrs. Hilden supporting the Siciliano/Michaels cohort and Ms. Paffas supporting the Bianchi/Speir cohort.
This structure allows each counselor to know the students, families, and teachers in their assigned grades deeply and provide timely, proactive support. It also allows us to provide additional classroom guidance lessons in first grade, supporting students as they navigate the excitement and new experiences of their first year in elementary school. These lessons will help students build friendships, manage emotions, solve problems, and develop confidence as learners.
Although counselors have assigned grade levels, both Ms. Paffas and Mrs. Hilden are here to support every Indian Lane student, family, and staff member. Together, they will expand the care, connection, and social-emotional support available to our entire school!
Welcome to Indian Lane!
We are pleased to welcome back Dr. Levy, our Specialized Programs Psychologist, and to welcome Ms. Bushey, our Building-Based Psychologist. Both will work with students, families, and staff at Indian Lane and Media Elementary.
We are also excited to welcome Mrs. Lora Rigatti as our new AGP teacher. While Mrs. Rigatti is new to Indian Lane, she has been teaching gifted education at Media and Glenwood since 2014. Mrs. Rigatti brings a wealth of experience in classroom teaching and instructional coaching. She is excited to get to know our students and families, collaborate with staff, and become part of the Indian Lane community. We are very happy to have her joining our team!

Do I need an account?
If you are not entering the form through HAC, yes. Creating an account lets you securely save your work and return later if needed. Please use the same account when completing forms for multiple children.
Do I need to answer every question?
Complete all fields marked Required.
What if I make a mistake?
Click an underlined field to edit it, or select Previous to return to an earlier page.
What happens after I complete the form?
Click Submit to send your information to the school. If you cannot select Submit, please check that all required questions have been answered.

Why all the mystery?
Everything is leading up to one big question:
Where will Mrs. Britton be at the PTG Block Party?
Kindergarten Dash
All Kindergarten students are invited to join us for our annual "KINDERGARTEN DASH". Sponsored by the Penncrest Athletic Boosters, this is our way to welcome our Future Penncrest Lions to the RTMSD... they will be the Class of 2039!
Kindergarten participants will line up together and run the length of the turf field together before our 7 pm home football game on Thursday September 3rd vs. Strath Haven! All Kindergarten participants will receive a "Future LION" t-shirt they can wear for the event.
Kindergarten families should arrive at 6:15 pm and meet on the track at 6:30 pm (near the scoreboard end of the field). The dash will be held at 6:40 pm. Students will be asked to quickly leave the field after the run, to allow the football team time to warm up. This is NOT a drop-off event. We ask only one parent/guardian on the field with your kindergarten student (no siblings).
Football game admission is $5/adult (ages 12 and older). Cash only -- please try to have exact change. Note: Referred to as the "Media Bowl", this game typically draws a large crowd so please plan to arrive early as parking may be limited. (Due to the holiday weekend, there will be NO SCHOOL on Friday September 4th.)
We are also looking for volunteers for the event: Kindergarten Dash Volunteers 2026.
For any questions, please contact penncrestathleticboosters@gmail.com.
