Safety Drills
Our number 1 priority at BYE is keeping students and staff members safe. We hope we never encounter a real emergency, but being proactive helps ensure we are prepared if needed. We conduct monthly safety drills. These drills range from fire drills, earthquake, tornado, intruder or alert drills, medical emergency, etc. We use the district safety procedures for each drill. It's important to practice so if there was an actual emergency, teachers and students would be prepared. We also practice multiple ways of exiting the building because emergencies don't always happen in the same location or same way. If you have any questions regarding our safety procedures, please reach out to Sara Kennedy at skennedy@sdale.org.

Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Week
This year Young will celebrate Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Week, October 25th-28th. Each day we will dress up and have a family challenge that promotes making healthy choices. We will end the week with the Color Run which brings our school together to participate in a healthy activity. We are looking forward to seeing students celebrating their Healthy Bodies and Healthy Minds!
Candy drive lasts ALL week! Bring candy to support SPD.
October’s Counseling Lesson Theme with Mrs. Nelson- Safety
Throughout the month of October I will be in classrooms discussing safety and making healthy choices with help from the Empower Me! curriculum. Empower Me! teaches children to identify their safety net of trusted adults and encourages them to reach out to one of those adults if anyone is trying to break their safety rules. We reinforce these safe and healthy choices during our Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds week at the end of October. I encourage you to talk about safety and making healthy choices with your children. Below are some tips to help start the conversation and keep your kids safe.
Ask your student about their 5 trusted adults.
Discuss their safety rules online and offline
Make sure your children are on safe and secure websites or phone apps
Discuss what they should do if someone is being unsafe or makes them feel uncomfortable.
Discuss the difference between a healthy choice and an unhealthy choice
Discuss the safe use of medications and what drugs shouldn't be ingested in their bodies.
Yearbook Pictures
Help us make this year's yearbook the best yet! Upload your photos of school events, class parties, and field trips by downloading the Image Share by Balfour app. Our project code for this year is 313066. You can upload up to 10 photos at a time! We do not have an upload number, so just skip that step and you’ll be on your way to uploading your favorite pics.
