Broadmoor's Weekly Wildcat News!

Broadmoor's WeeklyWildcat News!April 27, 2025

Dear BES Families,

We are finishing up April this week - so crazy!! In the next several weeks, our teachers will be completing end-of-year assessments and one of them is a student survey, mySAEBRs. This screener asks students how they feel about their own social, academic, and emotional behaviors. You can read the questions and check it out here: mySAEBRs. All students need parent permission in order to answer the questions. This is an opt-in permission form and if you do not complete it, students are not asked to do it. If there are any concerns, families are contacted to go over the results. You can give permission here: Permission Form. Please complete by May 9th.

Have a great week,

Cindy Apple, Principal

Fitness Shoutout Time!

We are SO proud of our elementary students who have been working incredibly hard in PE this year! From our first round of fitness testing back in September 2024 to our post-assessments this April, the progress has been amazing—and most importantly, so many students gained confidence in themselves and their abilities!

Over the course of the semester, students were tested in 4 areas:

PACER (cardio endurance)

Pushups (upper body strength)

Situps (core strength/endurance)

Sit & Reach (flexibility)

And just look at the growth:

+1,933 PACER points

+977 pushups

+1,582 situps

+243 inches of hamstring flexibility

Way to go, students! Your effort, persistence, and positivity are

what make this school community so strong!

Keep moving, keep growing!

Attendance and School Calendars Attendance and School Calendars

Receive an Attendance Email from School?

If you receive an attendance letter from school, it is meant to inform you of your student's absences or tardies. This way you can also keep track of the days gone and how to plan ahead to

miss fewer days.

When Your Child Misses School:

One week gone is approximately 7.5 hours of instruction lost in reading and in math. That doesn't include the extra time teachers provide to check for understanding and mastery of concepts so they can move on to the next concept. We see some students really struggle to get caught back up when they've missed extended time. We attempt to make it up during school hours, but your child may be required to stay after school to work with teachers or our tutors.

Please take note of our school calendars when planning your family's vacations.

Attendance is a focus at BES and we want your children at school! It can be very difficult for students to get caught up sometimes when they miss for extended periods of time. For example, when a student misses a week of school, that is up to 450 minutes of math instruction they are missing!

If your family does have a trip planned, we do not provide lessons or materials ahead of those trips. Teachers will work with you to schedule times when your student can be given that instruction and guided work time to ensure mastery of skills. This may have to happen before or after school, but we will also try to work during the school day as well.

GREAT school habits now help prepare students for future success!
