EMPOWER GROUP & GREEN TEAM COLLABORATION
The EMpower group and Green Team joined together on Wednesday afternoon to beautify the front of FBMS. Students and teachers pulled weeds, spread mulch, and planted several new plants. The space will soon also have two painted rocks recognizing the amazing work of the Green Team and EMpower Group. EMpower is a mentoring group led and created by our ESL teacher Joann Bohorquez that pairs ELL students with teacher mentors for the duration of their time at FBMS. The Green Team is a dedicated group of students who are passionate about protecting the environment and improving its condition. We are so grateful for both!
MR. KILE'S ART CLASS
Students in Mr. Kile's 7th Grade Visual Art class were busy this week finishing up their Relief Print Triptychs. Focused on the printmaking process and layering of color and texture, students created beautiful works of art that are now on display in the FBMS hallways.

6th GRADE FIELD TRIP
NOVA Trampoline Park Today!
Students on Anchor Cluster attended their field trip to the Nova Trampoline Park in Plymouth. Students had a TON of fun! Thank you, parents, for supporting this trip, and thank you, teachers, for organizing it!
Highlights from the Starfish Field Trip below:
Looking at cells...
Students in Mrs. Schaaf's Gr. 6 science classroom embarked on a journey to demonstrate that all organisms have cells. They utilized a new set of beautiful microscopes provided by the Marshfield Education Foundation (thank you MEF!). Mrs. Schaaf and two other Gr. 6 science teachers wrote the grant so that all students would be able to have their own microscope during the lessons within the unit. Three class sets were ordered; one for each Gr. 6 cluster. Today, students looked at and analyzed cheek, onion, pepper, and plant cells. Lots of interesting images!
MRS. WILMARTH'S CLASS
Students in Mrs. Wilmarth's class released butterflies today as part of their unit of study on the life cycle of a butterfly.
Summer Reading....
This year’s FBMS Summer Reading program offers a selection of books in order to incorporate a choice of perspectives and genres. The goal is to foster a love of reading and support students' individual learning needs.
This summer and next school year we will focus on the theme of “Empowering Change, Inspiring Hope.” We have identified age-appropriate books which demonstrate stories that focus on the idea of connecting with others around the world, understanding diverse perspectives, and fostering a sense of responsibility towards global issues. Through these books, students can develop a deeper understanding of their roles as global citizens and how they can contribute positively to a more interconnected world. We have created a suggested list below. Students can use this list as a guide to helping them find the right book. Any book chosen not from this list should still fit into the chosen theme.
Please note that summer reading is required of all FBMS students.
Please click on the links below for additional information:
When students return in the fall, their English teachers will give directions on how to submit the required assignment. Students will have time in class at the start of the year to discuss and finalize the assignment. This assignment will count as a grade for Term 1. We look forward to discussing these themes in the fall!
Have fun and happy reading!

The entire eighth grade will be taking a field trip to Starland in Hanover on Monday, June 10th. General information has already been presented to students by eighth grade advisors Meaghan Segalla and Sean Baldwin.
The permission slip for the field trip was distributed to students this week in their homerooms. The slips must be signed and returned to homeroom teachers, along with a form of payment, by Friday May 31st.
We look forward to celebrating our amazing eighth grade students!

The Grad Night Live team has generously donated extra snacks/drinks to FBMS for Class Night so as of now our list is very small. We may require additional snacks and will update this sign-up if needed the week of June 3rd. As this event does not require parent chaperones, we are in need of parent volunteers for clean-up of all the amazing decorations that are being planned to make this evening special for the kids. We need your help so please consider volunteering. https://furnacebrook.ptboard.com/sgnvw?group=&signup=owINicINRieJW5_WZFpZznN___51rGrtD3___nCu3dCZ
