Spring Registration

Below is an email sent out on April 15th from Mr. Kress:

Parents/Guardians,

We need your assistance. This week, April 15th - April 18th is our Spring Registration. For those of you that have been with us for a while, remember all those forms you had to fill out in August, after waiting in line for a LONG time. Well, this process will take care of that. It also helps us in projecting an accurate student count for our budget. Missing on our student count has rough consequences. Please, please help us by completing this process. A set of step by step instructions can be found by following the link at the bottom of this message. The process is best done on a computer. Phones and other mobile devices may not allow for optimal navigation of the process. Proceed at your own risk if you choose to use a phone or other device. My apologies!!

RETURNING STUDENTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN THE BLACKFOOT SCHOOL DISTRICT: Complete the online registration process and you will be good to go. If you struggle with the online process, you are welcome to visit your child's school and they will either assist you with the online process, or provide the paperwork to complete. The in-person option will be available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS AND/OR STUDENTS NEW TO THE BLACKFOOT SCHOOL DISTRICT: Forgive us, we will need you to complete the registration process in person. New students enrolling in our district will need to provide a copy of a birth certificate, immunization record, and proof of address (a copy of a utility bill works great). You can drop in to our schools Monday through Thursday 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

KINDERGARTEN PARENTS: We will schedule a kindergarten screening time for Friday, April 19th. Please be prepared to schedule a time for that day.

BHS STUDENTS: You will be doing class selections with your advisory teacher on Friday, April 19th. Please make sure you have a scheduled time for that to occur.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We hope the online process is an improvement for past practice. Have a great week!

Sincerely,

--

Social Studies Department

The Social Studies department at BHS is excited to announce a new offering for an elective credit. This year for course selection students had the option to sign up for a class next year called Crimes and Society. The purpose of this class is to challenge and educate on law enforcement and societal perspectives of crimes. One of BHS's own resource officers will be a regular guest speaker offering immense insight into the life of law enforcement. Mr. James of the social studies department will be partnering with Officer Hay in this class offering. Together they hope students will gain the ability to critically understand and analyze the relationship between law enforcement, crimes, and society.

Latinos In Action

At Blackfoot High School, a dynamic new class has emerged: Latinos in Action (LIA). Designed with a bold vision in mind, LIA aims to empower Latino youth to become leaders who shape and fortify their communities. With a laser focus on college and career readiness, this innovative program operates on four foundational pillars. Firstly, it harnesses the power of personal and cultural assets, recognizing the inherent strengths within each student. Secondly, it champions academic excellence, guiding students toward scholastic success and unlocking their full potential. Thirdly, LIA instills a profound sense of service, encouraging students to give back to their communities through meaningful engagement. Finally, it cultivates leadership skills, equipping students with the tools and confidence to enact positive change. Through LIA, students embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and empowerment, poised to make a lasting impact on the world around them.

Kaden Capson is the secretary

Damian Bustamante is the historian

On Earth Day, the LIA (Latinos in Action) class took the initiative to clean up the surroundings of their school, embodying their commitment to environmental care. Armed with gloves, trash bags, and unwavering determination, they combed through the campus grounds, meticulously picking up litter and debris. With every discarded wrapper and misplaced bottle they collected, they symbolically reclaimed their school's neatness. As they worked together, laughter and camaraderie filled the air, turning a simple cleanup into a powerful demonstration of community and environmental responsibility.

State Skills USA Automotive

The competitors for the State Skills USA- Automative 2024. This was the first time these students did this competition (as well as Morgan’s as an instructor). They were very humble about going to compete but they have some great skills and work so hard, going in at lunch, after school, and even Fridays to work on their hands on skills.

If you have questions Morgan can do a better job but I thought this would be a good highlight for them.

Athletic Department
