December 2025 CMS Newsletter
Dear Cody Middle School Community,
As we wrap up another meaningful month at Cody Middle School and move into the holiday season, I want to share a few important updates and take a moment to acknowledge the incredible work happening in our building each day. Our school continues to grow academically, socially, and culturally because of the consistent effort of our students, the unwavering commitment of our staff, and the strong partnership we share with our families and community.
We are now over a quarter of the way through the school year, and midterm grades for Quarter Two were posted prior to Thanksgiving Break. This is a key moment to encourage your student to stay focused, finish strong, and check PowerSchool regularly. Semester 1 officially ends on Friday, January 9, and these next several weeks matter. At Cody Middle School, we are committed to giving every student what they need to be successful, and failure is not part of the plan! To support this commitment, our students have multiple academic opportunities built into their school day, including our Advisory period, our targeted What I Need (WIN) intervention, and after-school tutoring, which is available to all students Monday through Thursday. These structures are designed to ensure every student receives the help, extension, or support they need to stay on track and experience success. As a reminder, students who do not meet academic expectations or fail multiple classes may face retention or summer school, which makes consistent attendance, effort, and communication absolutely essential.
In the spirit of reflection and continuous improvement, we will administer our annual Student Trust Survey during the week of December 8–12. This survey provides valuable insight into how students view their relationships with teachers and administrators, as well as their overall experience at CMS. These perspectives help us become better, stronger, and more responsive as a school community. I have attached a copy of the survey below. If you have any questions about the survey, please do not hesitate to reach out.
We now enter three full instructional weeks before Winter Break—three weeks of uninterrupted learning where students can refocus academically and make meaningful progress. Our staff continues to give their absolute best each day, whether through rigorous instruction, extra support, relationship-building, or the countless unseen moments that help students feel valued and capable. I am proud of the way our staff continue to go above and beyond in service of our students.
Finally, I want to offer my heartfelt gratitude to our entire Cody Middle School community.
To our students—you show tremendous growth, resilience, and determination. Your energy and effort inspire me daily.
To our staff—you are the backbone of this school. Your professionalism, your high expectations, and your commitment to student success make CMS an exceptional place to learn.
To our families—thank you for your partnership, trust, and support. It takes all of us working together to help our students reach their full potential.
In closing, and on behalf of the entire Cody Middle School staff, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a joyful start to the New Year. Thank you for your continued support and for allowing me the privilege of serving as the Principal of Cody Middle School.

Required Student ID
If your student rides any bus, please make sure they have their Student ID. PCSD6 Transportation will begin strictly enforcing the use of Student IDs on all buses, including in-town field trips. PCSD6 wants to make sure all students are safe and accounted for as well as be able to identify when and where they get on and off the bus. If your student requires a new Student ID, please let the Cody Middle School Front Office know and we will provide you with a replacement card form that you can return to us along with a $5 ID replacement fee. If you have questions, please call the PCSD6 Transportation Department at 307-587-2851.
