We will be closing the doors promptly at 2:00 pm so that teachers can resume preparing for the first day of school. Please adhere to your last name time slot and consider walking to the event. This is not an event to talk about concerns you have for your child.

In alignment with Governor Tina Kotek’s executive order, the district has made adjustments to the personal electronic device policy. All personal devices — including cell phones, earbuds, headphones and smartwatches — must be stored in backpacks during the school day, including restroom breaks and lunchtime. Students with IEPs or 504 plans that include device-related accommodations are exempt. If you need to get an urgent message to your child during the school day, please call the main office.

Please take a moment to review this policy with your child to ensure a smooth start to the school year.

Senator Lisa Reynolds

As a state representative, Lisa uses her voice in Salem to help make Oregon the best and most equitable state in the country in which to grow up. As Chair of the House Committee on Early Childhood and Human Services, Lisa is working to reduce child poverty, improve outcomes for families, end gun violence, and improve access to health care, especially behavioral health services.

Lisa has been a pediatrician in Washington County for over 20 years and knows what is and what is not working for families. She ran for office so that she could do even more for children than what she could accomplish in the exam room.

Lisa continues to see patients (many of whom she has known since they were born) several days a week when the Oregon House is not in session.

What are the normal hours for school?

7:45am -2:20 p.m.

*Doors open for students at 7:30am.

No supervision is provided for students before 7:30am.

Doors close and tardy slips are issued at 7:45am.

**Our parking lot gets very backed up. We encourage all who are able to, to walk or roll to school. If you choose to drive, please plan accordingly and leave your house early!

Tardy? Don't be!

Did you know that being just 10 minutes late to school each day can add up to a lot of lost learning? Over the course of a 180-day school year, that's equivalent to missing 30 hours of instruction—or five full school days! 😲

Our school doors open at 7:30 a.m. and the first bell rings at 7:45 a.m. to start the school day. We encourage all families to plan ahead for their morning routine, taking into account potential traffic delays and the busy school parking lot. Getting to school on time helps students start their day on the right foot, minimizes disruptions to the classroom, and ensures they don't miss out on important announcements and instruction. 🚌

Let's work together to make this a year of on-time arrivals and academic success for every student! 🎓

What is the process for arrival?

Students in 1st and 2nd grade will find the Yellow line on the concrete and follow that line to the front doors. Students in 3rd-5th will find the Green line on the concrete and follow that line through the side gym doors. Kinders will find the RED line painted on the concrete in front of the school. This line will lead students through the side gate near the playground undercover area and into the side, Kinder wing doors. Staff will be waiting at the gate to help welcome your student.

There will be staff stationed in multiple places to help direct your child.

Dismissal

All change of going home plans must be into the office no later that 1:00pm. Please use THIS form to submit any changes.

We have 4 main ways of dismissal- car pick up, walkers, bus and Bethany Childcare/Other daycare pickup.

All students are escorted to where they need to be by an adult.

** Again, our parking lot gets very busy so please walk or roll to school if able to.

Please see the map below that shows our dismissal locations. Due to safety and security, parents must stay in their designated location (indicated on the map below) during dismissal. We have 850+ students that we need to get to their dismissal location safely. Again, please do not congregate near the front doors of the school or by the kindergarten gate. Staff will ask you to go back to your designated location. Thank you!

How do families find out about bus routes? Do families need to register?

If a student qualifies for busing, families will receive an email from Transportation with their student’s route information during the week of August 19th. Elementary students who live more than one mile from school qualify for busing; families do not need to register.

To find your child's route information, please visit THIS link.

After School Care

Bethany Childcare runs their program out of our building but they are not affiliated with us. They have a few spots remaining for this coming school year. Please see Bethanyafterschool.com for more information regarding their program.

Absences

Please fill out THIS form if your student will be absent or late. Please note that if you notify the classroom teacher of a change or absence, the front office doesn’t always receive it. Please also notify the front office by clicking the link above.

Walkers

Because we have so many walkers, we have different locations based on your neighborhood that you will congregate to meet your child. Please see the map below.

Please only use designated crosswalks and for your safety, please do not cross in the middle of Kaiser Rd. We have crossing guards posted at Ridgeline and Kaiser to help you use the crosswalk safely.

Continuing for 2025-26: Free Meals for All Continuing for 2025-26: Free Meals for All

Continuing this school year, all BSD students will be eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch at school every day. Families do not have to apply, and there are no income requirements.

Student meals include an entree, sides, and a milk. Students must take the entire meal to be eligible for the no-cost option; students who only opt for milk do not qualify for free milk. This is a federal requirement meant to encourage students to eat a well-balanced meal.

A la carte items such as milk, second entrees, and snack items will be sold at select schools.

How do families ensure that their child will have a lunch to eat on the first day?

Students can bring lunches from home or get a school lunch in the school cafeteria. Duty staff will be available to assist kindergarteners with getting school lunches using their student numbers for the first few weeks of school. Please help us by practicing with your child how to open and close their lunch box and items that you pack for them. This will greatly help students to be independent and able to get started with eating quickly. Students have 20 minutes to eat in the cafeteria. This is another great thing to practice at home! There is no way for students to heat up lunches so please keep this in mind.

If you are sending your child with a home lunch, please provide silverware for them to use. The cafeteria plastic silverware is for school lunch eaters only. Thank you!

How much does school breakfast and lunch cost?

All students eat for free for this year.

If students eat breakfast at school, when should they arrive? How do they get to class after breakfast?

All students enter the school at 7:30 and if they eat breakfast, they will come in the front door and staff will help direct them to the cafeteria to go through the breakfast line and eat breakfast.

How do families apply for free or reduced-cost school meals?

All students get free lunch regardless of income.

How are food allergies handled?

Please be sure to notify our school nurse, Carey Stephens at carey_stephens@beaverton.k12.or.us. She will create a Student Health Plan that will put a flag in our system to alert the cafeteria staff that there is a food allergy. Additionally, we have allergy tables in our cafeteria that students can sit at. Please notify your classroom teacher if your child has a food allergy and needs to sit an an allergy table. Thanks!

Snacks-

We encourage parents to pack healthy snacks for their child. Check with your students teacher to find out details about snacks.

Dietary Restrictions-

All entrees in our cafeteria will be labeled as pictured below. If your child has special dietary needs such as the need to choose only vegetarian items, please help teach them to look for the green V as pictured as below.

Frequently Asked Questions: FAQ Frequently Asked Questions: FAQ

  • Are birthday treats allowed?

No, it is district policy that no sugary snacks are allowed for birthdays.

  • How are birthdays celebrated at school?

With classroom equity in mind, we let the birthday celebrations happen at home. Students are not allowed to bring treat bags or gifts for others on birthdays. Sato celebrates birthdays in two ways:

1) Birthday books through the library.

2) Birthday item handed out by our Administration at the end of every month.

  • How can I purchase Spirit Wear?

Coming soon!

  • Can't I just email the teacher about my change in go home plans?

Because teachers are busy teaching, and may not have the opportunity to check their email or ParentSquare messages, please fill out the change of going home plans form linked below. To ensure safety of your student and to make sure they are dismissed to the proper location, you must fill out the form by 1:00pm.

Form Linked Here

  • If I have a question, how can I contact the teacher?

You can reach your teacher through the ParentSquare messaging app. Teachers work from 7:15am-3:15pm each day and most of their time is spent with the students. Please allow 24-48 hours for your teacher to respond to messages.

If you need immediate assistance, please contact the office at (503) 356-2530.

  • When can I expect to see grades and hear about how my student is doing in class?

Official progress reports are given twice a year: one in February and one in June. We look forward to talking with you in depth about your student's progress during the two parent-teacher conferences (fall and spring). Back to School Night and other school wide events is not the time to discuss progress with your child's teacher.

Credit Card Fees Credit Card Fees

Starting this month, a convenience fee will be added to all online payments made with a credit or debit card via the district's online portal. The fee includes:

  • $0.40 per transaction

  • Plus 3.69% of the total amount

This fee helps cover processing costs and only applies to credit card payments. Cash and check payments will not have any fees added.
