π Windsong Weekly: October 10, 2026
Dear Windsong Ranch Families,
A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences on Friday or have already scheduled a time to meet! Strong communication and partnership between home and school are key to student success and we appreciate your time and dedication. If you haven't had a chance to schedule a conference yet, please reach out to your child's teacher.
Get ready to show off your school spirit, RHS Homecoming week is here! Dress-up days are happening this week and this year's theme is Take Me to Rio. Please see the graphic below for each dayβs dress-up theme so your student can join in on the celebration! We hope to see our families at the parade on Wednesday evening, 6pm, RHS parking lot.
To help streamline our daily end-of-day procedures, we are transitioning all dismissal changes to an online form. You no longer need to call the front office and this keeps a paper trail of your request. Our daily cutoff time remains the same: all changes must be submitted by 1:30 PM each day to ensure our staff can safely route every student to their proper location. To make updating your child's pick up quick and easy, please bookmark this link so you can access it whenever you need it!
Thank you for your continued partnership. Enjoy the 4 day weekend; we'll see you back at The Ranch on Wednesday!

β Important Notes
Veterans Day Celebration
We are excited to welcome our local heroes for our annual Veterans Day Parade. We know many of our families wish to attend the event at Rushing, which is scheduled for 8:30 AM, so we have pushed our parade start time back to 9:30 AM to allow everyone the chance to participate in both celebrations. If you are planning to walk in the parade, please sign up using this Verkada link.
We will also be creating a slideshow to celebrate our Veterans. Please send a photo of your service member to Holly Gadberry by Friday, November 6th and include the following:
- name, branch, and rank of service member
- student's name and relation
- teacher's name
If you submitted your photo last year, please confirm with Ms. Holly that we have it and can use that one again this year.
Rainy Day Arrival & Dismissal
Anytime there is rain occurring during arrival or dismissal, I want to make sure you are aware of a few things:
Arrival
If there is lightning in the area (within 5-10 miles), crossing guards will not be at their posts.
Staff will be outside to help children as much as possible, but please do not wait for a staff member to come and open a car door. Once you have pulled up all the way up, have your child go ahead and get out. This helps to keep everything moving.
If there is lightning in the area, staff will not be outside, they will be under the awning to help students enter the building.
The carline will move slower on days that are raining. Mrs. Qualls will keep a close eye on this and will not count tardies until the carline has finished. However, please plan for extra time.
Dismissal
If there is lightning in the area (within 5-10 miles), crossing guards will not be at their posts.
If there is lightning in the area or we are in the middle of a heavy downpour, walkers and bikers will be held until lightening stops and/or rain slows.
If there is lightning or hail, staff will not be standing at cones. Instead they will be runners to get students from inside the building.
Do not park and walk up to get your child. You will be sent back to the carline. We understand that this process requires a lot of patience. However, getting 700+ students out safely while also protecting staff requires time. Please be gracious.
Remember, A-L is FRONT carline and M-Z is BACK carline. If you access the wrong carline, it takes quite a bit of time to go and retrieve your child from the other side of the building. Please go to the correct line.

26-27 Yearbook Cover Contest
This year our Yearbook Cover Contest will be open to all grade levels! We would like students to create a picture on 8 1/2 x 11 paper keeping the school wide theme of having a growth mindset and if we can't do something, it only means we can't do it YET! A great book to go with that theme is The Magical Yet. All entries are due by October 26th. Click the link to read.
Please include the student's name on the bottom of the entry along with their teacher's name and do not laminate. The winner will have their drawing on the front cover, runner-up will be placed on the back cover, and all other entries will be displayed inside the yearbook.
