Panther Pulse - Mrs. Fullerton
Some thoughts for the starting school year
A Message from Principal Fullerton
Dear Panther Families,
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, the excitement of summer is definitely in the air! While we are all looking forward to a well-deserved break, I want to share an important focus for our classroom during the month of May: Maintaining our momentum.
I also want to take a moment to share how incredibly proud I am of all the hard work your children have put in this year. From the first day of school to now, I have watched them tackle new challenges, grow their skills, and build a wonderful classroom community. Seeing their perseverance firsthand has been the highlight of my year, and I want to make sure we honor that progress by finishing the year on a high note!
To ensure every student feels safe, focused, and proud of their growth right up until the final bell, we are keeping our classroom expectations high and our daily schedules predictable.
👉Why We Stay Consistent
You might notice that we aren’t "winding down" just yet. Here is why:
Predictability Reduces Anxiety: For many children, the transition to summer can feel uncertain. Keeping our school routines "business as usual" helps them feel secure.
Maximizing Learning: We still have exciting concepts to cover! We want to make sure every instructional minute counts to celebrate a full year of growth.
Safety First: Clear boundaries help prevent the behaviors and conflicts that often arise when things get too "loose."
🏠How You Can Help at Home
We greatly appreciate your partnership in reinforcing the message that school is not over yet. You can support your child by:
Maintaining Bedtimes: Keep those sleep schedules consistent to help them stay regulated during the day.
Checking Folders: We still have important work and end-of-year information coming home.
Positive Encouragement: Remind your child that finishing strong is a reflection of their hard work and character.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with your students this year. Their growth is a testament to the hard work they do here and the support you provide at home. Let’s work together to make this final month our best one yet!
Warmly,
Eumia

🧩 BIST BYTE for Families: Consistency is Care
The "May Slide" and the Importance of Predictability
As we approach the end of the school year, you may notice your child becoming a bit more restless or easily frustrated. In the world of BIST (Behavior Intervention Support Team), we know that when the "finish line" is in sight, children often feel a mix of excitement and anxiety.
When routines start to feel "loose," student behaviors often escalate. This is why we stay committed to our classroom goals of Grace and Accountability all the way until the last day.
đź’ˇ BIST Concepts at Home
You can support your child’s emotional regulation this month by using these BIST-inspired strategies:
Maintain the "Standard": It’s tempting to let chores or bedtimes slide as the days get longer. However, keeping home expectations consistent provides a "safety net" for children when their world feels like it’s changing.
The Power of "Predictability": If your family schedule is getting busy with spring sports or events, try using a "First/Then" statement: "First we finish homework, then we go to the park." This helps children know exactly what to expect.
Focus on the "Why": We hold high expectations not to be rigid, but because we care. Remind your child: "I care about you too much to let you be unkind to your sibling," or "I want you to be successful, so we are going to finish this task together."
🤝 Partnering for Success
By keeping things predictable and consistent both at school and at home, we help our students manage their end-of-year "big feelings" and finish the year feeling capable and proud.
