Evolv Updates
Dear Seckinger Families,
We have completed our first week using the Evolv weapons detection system, and I want to thank you again for your support and cooperation, and share a brief update on how things are going.
What We’ve Seen:
· Our Evolv system has processed more than 12,750 individual scans this week.
· The system operated efficiently.
· The vast majority of students passed through screening without delay.
· A small number of secondary screenings were conducted quickly and respectfully.
· All bus riders were in the building before 7:00 AM each of the last 4 days.
· We did not experience any lines for our car riders for the past 4 days.
What We’ve Learned:
· Arriving a few minutes early helps ensure a smooth entry.
· Students have adapted well to the new process.
· We’ve made a few minor adjustments to improve traffic flow and reduce wait time.
· We are continuing to refine procedures to make the experience even more efficient.
Here are a few areas where we need your support.
- Please encourage your students to arrive prepared. All items should be placed in their bookbag prior to entering the school.
- All items should be secured in a closed bag. Bags that do not close can tip over and unsecured items can fall out causing a delay.
- Bags should be placed on the Expediate Bag Scanner face down with the straps facing up.
- Please ensure that all beverage containers are secure. Open beverages are not required to be placed in bags, those beverages can be carried through the Evolv system.
- If your student has an item (binder, water bottle, eyeglass case, etc) in their bag that continues to create an alert please consider leaving those items at home.
Overall, we are encouraged by how well our students and staff have adapted. This Evolv system is just one part of our multi-layered approach to school safety, and its smooth rollout reflects the strength of our school community.
Thank you for continuing to support our efforts to create a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Fisher
Principal
Seckinger High School

Homecoming Spirit Week Themes: September 15th-18th
The votes are in and we are excited to share the Homecoming 2025 Spirit Week Themes! Spirit Week is September 15-18! Plenty of time to plan great outfits!
Reminders for Maxwell/Grayson/GSMST/Dual Enrollment/ and Work-Based Learning Students
- Students must enter/exit through the attendance office.
- Your student should have received an ID pass (hole punched for easy use with a lanyard) and neon green lanyard that will be used to help identify when students arrive and exit campus each day through the attendance office.
- Students must wear their lanyard around their neck with ID visible when entering and exiting the building. This applies to Grayson/Maxwell/GSMST/Dual Enrollment and Work-Based Learning Students.
- All Work-Based Learning students must sign in and sign out in the admin office located in T326.
- Dual Enrollment students that arrive early to campus before their scheduled classes must report to room T318. Early students may not report to the media center.
- All students entering the building must enter through the back of the school next to the attendance office and go through the Evolv Weapons Detection system.
- There are several days during the year when we will be on block schedule or activity days. Maxwell/Grayson students returning to campus will still eat lunch upon their return.
- Seniors - please be sure to review the SKG Seniors Instragram page (#SKG Seniors) and our SKG website for all pertinent information on senior events. If you plan to attend one of these events, you'll want to be sure to notify the Maxwell/Grayson/GSMST attendance office as well as the SKG Attendance Office to update your attendance.
Reminders from the AP Office
- We will offer an Optional Virtual AP Exam FAQ meeting for any parents that have questions about how/when to register for AP exams. These meetings will take place virtually at 6:00 PM on September 17 and September 24 (links will be sent at a later date). Again, this meeting is optional for any parent who wishes to ask questions about the AP exam process prior to the registration window opening.
- Please be sure to complete the SY 25-26 Free/Reduced Lunch application if applicable. As a reminder, students that are Free/Reduced lunch only have to pay one, non-refundable $15 registration fee, and the rest of their AP exams are free.
- The AP Exam Registration window for year-long AP courses opens in www.MyPaymentsPlus.com on Friday, September 26, and closes on Sunday, November 9 at 11:59 PM. All AP exams are $99; there is a one-time, non-refundable $15 registration fee applied for exam registration. There is a $40 late fee charged for any year-long exam registrations after the deadline. We strongly encourage all students to register for AP exams in each course! See links to tutorials on how to register below.
- Please review the SY 25-26 AP Course Catalog for pertinent information for all AP courses offered at Seckinger High School.
- SY 25-26 AP Exam Schedule - We will send out additional AP exam information at a later date. If a student has a conflict by taking more than one exam at the same time, the AP Coordinator will speak to the student about using the late exam testing window to resolve the conflict.
- Be sure to visit the SKG Advanced Placement website for monthly AP student awards, links to The College Board, informational videos, and other pertinent AP information.
- 8th Period AP Fair - We will have an AP Fair for students only during 8th period on Thursday, January 22, 2026. This will allow for all SKG students to speak to teachers and current students in the AP courses offered at SKG prior to registering for courses for the 2025-2026 School Year.

SKG Receives the NOAA Ocean Guardian School Grant
Congratulations to Ms. Bacha who submitted a proposal last spring for funding for a hands-on watershed/ocean stewardship project. Due to her hard work in our Oceanography program, our school was awarded a NOAA Ocean Guardian School grant to help support this project. If all goes according to plans, at the end of the school year, we will be evaluated by the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries for official recognition as a NOAA Ocean Guardian School. The Ocean Guardian School grant program is managed by NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries with funding coordinated by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries serves as the trustee for a network of underwater parks including a system of 15 national marine sanctuaries and two marine national monuments. The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is the national non-profit partner for the National Marine Sanctuary System..
