Key Items from the April 20 Meeting Key Items from the April 20 Meeting

  • The Board of Education voted 4-1 to rescind the $4.5 million cost savings package for 2026-2027. This comes after several months of discussion and debate on the district’s financial future following the failure of the 6.9 mill operating levy in May of 2025.
  • Current projections show the district beginning to deficit spend (spending more money than revenue received) by approximately $1.5 million during this fiscal year, increasing to approximately $9 million in fiscal year 2027. Without any changes, deficit spending will continue to increase throughout the forecast.
  • The Board provided commentary regarding the issue of state funding, failure to pass an operating levy since 2005, and a need to come together as a community to support Huber Heights City Schools. A comprehensive and strategic approach to the financial situation will be needed in the near future.
