PROGRESS REPORTS COMING NEXT WEEK

Another Fundraiser??? Another Fundraiser???

Yes. Another one...But this is why.

You may be wondering why we are beginning another fundraiser after our Booster's Club No Fuss Fundraiser drive earlier this month. That is a fair question, and we want to explain why these fundraisers serve two different purposes.

Our first fundraiser was sponsored by the East Avenue Boosters and was strictly a donation campaign. Parent Club funds are managed by the parent organization and can be used to support schoolwide needs and enhancements such as programs, resources, equipment, campus improvements, and other items that benefit our students and school.

Our upcoming Believe Kids/Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough Fundraiser is sponsored by our Associated Student Body (ASB). ASB funds are student funds ONLY and are intended to support student activities and experiences. These funds help pay for things such as school dances, rallies, student activities, assemblies, recognition programs, and other events that directly enhance student life at East Avenue.

Because Parent Club funds and ASB funds are maintained separately and have different rules and purposes for how the money may be used, one fundraiser cannot simply replace the other.

Participation in this fundraiser is completely voluntary. There is no requirement for students or families to sell products, make purchases, collect donations, or meet a fundraising goal. A student's participation in school activities, programs, or opportunities will not depend on whether they participate in the fundraiser or how much they raise.

We know families are asked to support our school in many different ways, and we are grateful for every form of support, whether that means participating in a fundraiser, volunteering, attending school events, or simply encouraging our students.

Thank you for supporting East Avenue and helping us create meaningful experiences for our students!

LCAP Committee Parent Volunteer from EAST AVE.

You may be asking, “What is the LCAP?”

LCAP stands for Local Control and Accountability Plan. Simply put, it is the District’s roadmap for improving our schools. The LCAP identifies the District’s major goals and priorities for students, the actions and programs that will support those goals, and how funding will be used to help make them happen.

The LCAP addresses important areas that directly affect our students, including academic achievement, student engagement, school climate and safety, attendance, support for English learners and other student groups, and opportunities for parents and families to be involved in our schools.

Why do we need a parent representative?

An important part of developing the LCAP is hearing directly from the people our schools serve. Parents need to have a voice in the conversation. Our representative will have the opportunity to provide the perspective of an East Avenue family, learn more about District priorities and programs, and provide input about the needs of our students and schools.

You do not need to be an education expert, understand school budgets, or know anything about the LCAP before volunteering. We are simply looking for a parent or guardian who cares about our students, is willing to listen and learn, and is comfortable sharing a parent perspective.

Meetings are once a month starting in October

Please email me if you would like to be considered for this position. Mneal@lvjusd.org

Protect Your Student's Chromebook for as low as $22 with School Device Coverage! Protect Your Student's Chromebook for as low as $22 with School Device Coverage!

I cannot stress enough the importance of getting this insurance. Your kids walk around with chromebooks everyday and don't always treat them well. From accidentally dropping them, throwing their backpacks around with their chromebooks inside, and just random things that happen, this insurance covers it.

Our District has partnered with School Device Coverage to offer parents optional, affordable insurance coverage for 1st through 12th-grade students’ LVJUSD-issued Chromebooks. (TK and Kindergarten students use a class set of Chromebooks when needed and are not issued individual devices. This coverage does not apply to students in TK or Kindergarten.)

Replacement costs without insurance can be as costly as $399 per device. School Device Coverage offers two policies, Basic and Expanded.

Coverage can be purchased through October 31, 2026, to insure your student’s Chromebook through July 31, 2027. (Coverage of device begins after the purchase of a policy has been processed and MUST be purchased before any damage occurs.) Policies can be purchased online at https://schooldevicecoverage.com/signup

Contact School Device Coverage directly at 1(888) 978-3515 with any questions
