PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Our second week of school was successful! We accomplished our fall screening tests and have a great idea of where to begin our instruction. Test results will be sent electronically to parents the week of Sept 22nd!

Please, for the safety of all of our students, adhere to our car line procedures. The biggest one that we are worried about is when adults stop their car in the carline and exit the car to help a child enter or exit. This completely stops the traffic flow and creates a safety concern for our students. If you need to help your child enter or exit the car, please park and walk up to the awning. Thank you for following our safety procedures.

Lastly, next Tuesday is our first PTSA Meeting of the year! ALL are welcome to attend, not just PTSA members. This is a great opportunity to hear more about what is going on inside the school, what events are coming up, and provide feedback or ask questions! You may join virtually or leave early if needed! Please enter through the Gym doors. There will be a rec monitor to let you in.

We hope to see you there! Tuesday, Sept 16th in room 30 from 7-8:30pm.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Elizabeth

Recess Rules

As we start a fresh school year, we are focused on ensuring recess is a positive experience and is building sportsmanship skills. Our PE teacher, Mrs. A has supported our recess team with clear rules to common games at recess. If you'd like to reinforce these rules with your child, or review them for yourself, you may find them here. At times, we do rotate large group games to ensure there is adequate supervision. We're off to a great start!

NEW - School Google Calendar

In an effort to communicate better and support busy parents, we've created a shared Google calendar. This calendar includes no school days, PTSA events, large school events and more! We are working to update field trips as they pop up. For directons on how to access the calendar, please see here. If you have any questions or issues accessing the calendar, please reach out to Elizabeth.

Physical Education with Mrs. A

In our first week of PE, we worked on both Physical Education standards and class expectations. In CH, LE and UE classes, our activities focused on locomotor skills (walking, running, galloping, skipping, shuffling), spatial awareness (moving in varying directions and stopping at targets), using equipment safely (scooters, Cheetoh tag variation) and playing fairly with others (RPS challenge warm-up, risk-taking strategy game). In AP classes, we considered the purpose of PE, through a brainstorm board activity and in group discussion but primarily during activity choices. We worked in various groupings to demonstrate current levels of collaboration, leadership and engagement in physical activity. This initial week establishes an important baseline for setting goals and making plans for the year!
