Continued Celebrations: Our Students Are Successful!
Dear Families and Community,
Happy upcoming St. Patrick's Day and thank you to everyone who may have participated in our Pi Day celebrations!
This past Friday (3/14/25), we celebrated Pi Day throughout our district with fun mathematical activities. The Middle School/High School hosted special Pi celebrations where students engaged with this fascinating mathematical constant (3.14159...) through interactive activities. At the high school, students and staff participated in a pie-throwing event, combining learning with a lot of laughter!
As we approach Spring Break in just a few weeks, I want to emphasize the importance of this upcoming time for rest and rejuvenation. Research consistently shows that periodic breaks improve student learning outcomes and mental well-being. This downtime provides students an opportunity to recharge, process what they've learned, and return to school with renewed focus and energy.
Some suggestions for making the most of Spring Break:
- Encourage daily reading to maintain academic skills
- Balance screen time with outdoor activities
- Maintain a reasonable sleep schedule to ease the transition back to school
- Consider visiting local museums, parks, or libraries for enriching experiences
In other district news, our teachers are currently working on third-quarter assessments. When we return from break, we'll be launching our spring state assessment preparation. Your support in ensuring students attend school regularly during this important academic period is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. Together, we can help all students finish the school year strong!
Sincerely,
Shannon Leatherwood, Superintendent

March: National Nutrition Month!
March is a special month in school food service as we recognize National Nutrition Month and National School Breakfast Week—two observances that highlight the importance of healthy eating and access to nutritious meals for all students.
At the heart of these celebrations is our Connected Food Program, which is dedicated to providing students with wholesome, scratch-made meals that nourish their bodies and fuel their learning. National Nutrition Month encourages making informed food choices and embracing balanced eating habits, which aligns perfectly with our mission to serve fresh, locally sourced, and thoughtfully prepared meals every day.
National School Breakfast Week reminds us of the crucial role breakfast plays in student success. Thanks to our scratch-based breakfast program at the elementary school students start their day with real, nutritious food that helps them focus, learn, and thrive. By making breakfast more accessible and incorporating high-quality ingredients, we are ensuring that every child has the opportunity to enjoy a healthy start to their day. We strive to offer the same possibilities to our secondary campus soon.
Through these initiatives, we continue to build a strong school food culture—one that values real food, supports local farmers, and fosters a sense of community in our cafeterias.
