Message from Mr. Tejkl
What will you do to go one more degree?
I can not tell you how excited I was for last week! The week left me in ah and I was inspired to keep our train rolling! Some may say, "Well Tejkl, you would say that no matter what." That is possible but I can tell you that our children/students are in great hands with the staff we have here at S-RC! Also, do know, when I say staff, that is every individual in our building from cooks, janitors, bus drivers, teachers, principals, counselors, secretaries, etc. Without EVERYONE, we don't move and EVERYONE in our building has the opportunity to impact lives.
This week's message goes with our theme for the year which is 212 degrees. What is the significance of that? Well, my science side geeks out for this and what that temperature represents is when water begins to boil and create steam. How is this motivation for us?
When water is first put in a pan to boil, it needs to warmup and that takes time. To heat that water, there is a lot of time and energy that goes into raising the temperature so that its true potential can be released. With life, we put a lot of time and energy into many things in our lives. There are some days where we reflect and wonder, "Is this ever going to happen? Am I ever going to be my best? Am I really making an impact on those around me? Am I being a good husband/wife/father/mother?"
This is the heating process. It takes time and energy. Many get to 211 degrees and give up because they don't see the end near when in fact, all it takes is one more degree to reach your potential. To reach the peak of your WHY. It comes down to the simple question of, "What am I willing to do to go one more degree?" We recently asked our staff that question and it revolved around doing this for children. Doing this for making a better world. Doing this because I want to see other succeed.
With the WHY identified and the work being put in, now it comes down to pushing ourselves to the next degree. With a boil, comes steam and with that steam, we can move a train. You are able to do the same so I encourage you to find you WHY and never give up. We have wrist bands that all staff/students have (and will have made available for the public as well) that have 212 on it with our #RollSkies as well. However, on the inside of the band has the phrase, "Believe In Yourself" as well because it starts with YOU!
Keep pushing and keep reaching to be your best for yourself and those around you.
Quote of the week to make you think:
"At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, it boils. And with boiling water, comes steam. And with steam, you can power a train. What will you do to go one more degree to take yourself to the next level?"
Sincerely,
Tucker Tejkl

Elementary teachers looking for donors for awesome books for our students!
It’s that time of year again! Back to school is here and I couldn’t be more excited!
This year we are trying something new in their classrooms. They are looking for book sponsors!
By being a book sponsor, you will allow me to put a book in the hands of each student in my classroom! I can’t wait to watch their expressions every time they received a book of their very own to KEEP!
Sponsors are asked to donate $20 which will allow teachers to buy a book for each student each month August-May!
We will post class pictures each month so you can share in the joy that we will feel as we open our monthly Scholastic boxes!
Thank you so much for considering sponsoring a child in my classroom and fostering the love of reading at Shelby-Rising City! If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Thompson!
