Principal's Message

Hello McNair Community,

Progress Reports should have been received by families. We have four more weeks in the semester until fall break. I encourage all students to work hard these last few weeks. We will have finals on September 25 and 26.

As a reminder, there is No School tomorrow, Monday, September 1, in honor of the Labor Day Holiday. This Friday we have our American Red Cross Blood Drive. If you would like to donate and help keep McNair as the top earning donor school in Northern California, please reach out to Karen Gonzales at kgonzales@lodiusd.net.

I would also like to thank Kathleen Whisler for all the work she has done during her time here at McNair as Vice Principal. On behalf of the teachers and staff, I would like to say Congratulations on your Retirement! Coming in as Interim Vice Principal will be Robert Winterhalter. We look forward to working with him.

I hope you have a wonderful week.

Mrs. Nicole Vertar, M. Ed.

Principal

Volunteering

The volunteer process was switched to online. The process is posted on both school and district webpages under “Families - Volunteer”

Online Data Confirmation/Complete la Confirmación de Datos

Online data confirmation is now open in Aeries! Once completed, you’ll be able to log in to Aeries to view your child’s class schedule.

This process is also how we collect updated contact information, which is essential to keep your child safe in case of an emergency.

✅ Please make sure to complete the income information page—even if you think it doesn’t apply to you. It helps our schools receive additional funding to support students.

📞 Questions? Call your child’s school—we’re happy to help!

Cell Phone Policy

BE PRESENT: Phones down, heads up. Lodi USD is committed to creating connections in the classroom. Starting this school year, students will be expected to keep their phones turned off during the school day - including lunches, breaks, and passing periods - as part of the district-wide initiative to Be Present. This initiative is designed to support a more focused learning environment while encouraging real, in-person connection outside of the digital world.

Please talk with your student(s) about this new initiative and the positive benefits associated with disconnecting during the school day. We believe that this initiative, over time, will support a more focused learning environment and encourage student connection outside of the digital world. You can find more information on the policy, the benefits, and frequently asked questions here.

In accordance with California Senate Bill 3216 and Lodi Unified School District Board Policy 5131,

Cell phones are NOT to be used during instructional hours. More specifically, this means students cannot use cell phones on campus from the time they enter campus until the time they are dismissed, this includes passing period and lunch. When an offense is reported to administration the consequences may occur.

Not Responsible for Lost/Stolen Items

Ronald E. McNair High School/ Lodi Unified School District are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please use caution in bringing expensive or important belongings to school, as they are solely each student’s responsibility. This includes items that are confiscated due to a student’s refusal to follow school dress codes and/or electronic device policies.

If you have further questions regarding this, please reach out to McNair Administration.

Google Classroom Guardian Emails

📣 Google Classroom Guardian Emails Now Synced with Aeries

You may have already noticed—guardian email invitations in Google Classroom are now automatically synced with the Aeries database.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Only guardians listed as Educational Rights Holders in Aeries are invited to receive weekly email summaries from Google Classroom.
  • Manual guardian entries are no longer allowed. The list is fully controlled by the Aeries sync and updates nightly.
  • If a guardian isn’t receiving the invitation, please contact the school office to update their information in Aeries.
  • Guardians who wish to stop receiving emails can simply delete the invitation.
Please do not click “unsubscribe,” as that will not stop Google from resending the invitation.
  • Guardian summaries include:
    • Missing work
    • Upcoming work
    • Recent announcements, assignments, and questions
    • A preview link to Google Classroom
  • Note: Grades, comments, and student attachments are not included.
