Message from the Principal
Good Afternoon Dragon Family:
We have a busy week ahead (see event schedule posted below) with students and athletes competing in band, basketball, and the state academic meet this Saturday. This week is a great opportunity to reflect upon the amazing success PHS has achieved this year. Just to recap to this point:
- 2A State Band Championship
- Academic Team Qualifies for State Tournament
- 105 Students qualify for Fall Superintendent's Honor Roll (4.0 GPA)
- FFA Leadership attends National Convention
- amazing student leadership from STUCO, Spanish Club, and NHS,
- Cheerleaders compete @ Gameday Regionals for first time
- Successful new programs including Robotics, Botany, and Leadership class
- Softball team (youthful one) one game from state tournament
- Football team qualifies for state playoffs with a winning season
- Both basketball teams ranked late in January
I'm incredibly proud of our students and the resilience they have shown this year. Students and Teachers are working hard in the classroom and overcoming disruptions in learning due to Covid. Students are achieving success in a broad range of extracurricular programs including athletics and the arts. Student clubs and organizations are growing in numbers and influence in the school.
Excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and student clubs and organizations are all interconnected. We are committed to growing those opportunities for ALL students moving forward.
Jason

School and Student Safety
Winter Weather Updates / Safety Meeting this Week
- Parents: PLEASE CHECK INTO THE OFFICE WHEN COMING TO THE SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. We welcome all parents to the high school but you MUST first check into the main office.
- School Safety Meeting this Wednesday in the library @ 3:30 PM; All parents welcome
- Winter Weather is forecast for Wed/Thursday of this week. It will certainly be frigid mid to late week and parents and students should prepare for below zero wind chills Thursday and Friday. Precipitation forecasts are still uncertain but some type of winter weather can be expected.
- Good opportunity to fill out the emergency dismissal form (linked below). This only applies to upperclassmen with valid drivers license and parking permit. This would allow students to check-out without parent contact in the case of a sudden school dismissal.
- Please make sure student's dress for the extreme cold later this week.
- We will salt all sidewalks and entrances but students and visitors should watch for icy surfaces
- Monitor the weather and be prepared for changes. The National Weather Service is a reliable follow on facebook and twitter.
- Monitor school social media and email for announcements regarding closures, cancellations and potential virtual learning days.
