Prairie Creek Panther Post
Week of Monday, August 5th - Friday, August 9th, 2024

Week of September 1st
We had a wonderful time at Family Skate Night—thank you to all the families who joined us! Also Congratulations to Ms. White's class for winning the pizza party and amazon card for her class. Be on the lookout for more family engagement nights this year—we have several fun events planned.
You may have also received a Positive Office Referral phone call this year. We’ve implemented a new incentive program to recognize students who go above and beyond in the classroom and demonstrate our monthly character trait—especially when no one is watching. This is our way of celebrating students who choose to do the right thing simply because it’s the right thing.
Here’s how it works:
-
After 10 referrals, students will visit our “concession stand” for a special treat or prize.
-
When our school hits 100 referrals, we’ll celebrate together as a school!
-
After each 100-referral milestone, we’ll reset the count and keep going.
-
Our goal is to reach this milestone four times this year! 🎉
👉 Reminder: There is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Monday, September 1st.
👉 September 2nd is the deadline for online registration. If you haven’t paid fees, please make arrangements with Mrs. Archibald at archibas@usd385.org—payment plan options are available.

💛🖤Capturing Kids Hearts💛🖤
We are a Capturing Kids’ Hearts school, and our Word of the Month is Empathy. Throughout the month, we will focus on understanding others’ feelings, showing kindness, and building stronger connections with those around us.
As part of this month and September, we are also exploring careers in Family and Consumer Science! These careers are all about teaching important life skills such as cooking, nutrition, budgeting, and caring for others.
If you work in this field and have a picture of yourself at work, we would love to feature it on our Career Bulletin Board to inspire our students.
Girls on the Run 🏃🏻♀️
🎉3rd-5th Grade Girls! Inner strength. Build confidence. Make meaningful connections.

A Note From Music 🎶
🎶 Prairie Creek Singers 🎶
If you didn’t make it last Tuesday, you are welcome to join us this week. Rehearsals will be held Tuesdays from 3:45–5:00 p.m. Please plan to pick up your student at 5:00 p.m. on the west side of the building (Car Rider Pickup).

A Note From the Library 📚
The library is off to a wonderful start this year! With students visiting more frequently, I want to remind them that they don’t have to check in and check out books every time they come. For our older students especially, it’s perfectly fine if it takes the full two-week checkout period to finish a chapter book.
Our 3rd–5th grade students are being introduced to the William Allen White Book Challenge. The William Allen White Award is Kansas’ statewide children’s book award, where students read from a list of nominated titles and vote for their favorite. We began discussing it this week and will finish up early next week. I’ll be sharing details with families through Class Dojo, the Library Website, and Mrs. Seibel’s weekly newsletter. Participation in the challenge is optional, but it’s a wonderful way to encourage students to explore new books they might not normally choose.
Our Fall Book Fair will be here soon! I will be sharing more information with you in the coming weeks.
Happy Reading!

Arrival and Dismissal
School Hours: 8:45-3:45 (All Day Kindergarten – Fifth Grade)
Doors Open at 8:35. Dismissal begins at 3:45.
8:35 - 11:50 (A.M. Pre-K and Early Childhood)
12:30 - 3:45 (P.M. Pre-K and Early Childhood)
Arrival - The doors will remain locked until our first bell at 8:35 A.M. If you are in the Car Rider Line, children may NOT exit your vehicle, until the doors open. If you need to walk your child to class, or visit the office, you must enter the North Side of the building, and check-in through the Office. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. This is a District Wide Mandate, and it will be followed, as it ensures the safety of our staff and our students.
Late Arrivals after 8:45 A.M. - The school day starts at 8:45 A.M. Promptly at 8:45 A.M. Bell, the East and West Exterior Doors will be locked. If your child arrives late, please drop your child off at the front of the building which faces the YMCA. Students will be checked in, lunch order taken, and students will be given a tardy slip to enter their classroom.
Dismissal - All Prairie Creek KG - 5th Grade families will be given a Car Rider Number. This number MUST be displayed in order for your child to be released to you in the Car Rider Line. Please have your Card Rider Sign clear and visible in your windshield. If there is no Car Rider Sign, the parent/guardian will be asked to go to the Office to pick up their student(s). This is for the safety and well-being of our staff and students, and there will be no exceptions. While in the Car Rider Line, it is important that you pull up as far as possible to allow us to dismiss students smoothly and quickly. Parents are NOT allowed to park and walk up to get their students. This creates an unsafe situation and will not be allowed. Please watch your speed and attention while in the Car Rider area, as there are many students exiting their cars and/or walking home.
Car Rider Pickup and Dropoff for PreK & Early Childhood is on the East Side of the Building, next to the YMCA Turf Fields. Parents will enter from YMCA Drive.
Car Rider Pickup and Dropoff for Kindergarten - 5th Grade is on the West Side of the Building. The line will form on the road in front of the Farha Center. Parents should NOT try to drive south on Yorktown, and attempt to make a left hand turn into the Parking Lot!
