Tiger Talk
11/04/25
Good evening, Tiger Families,
Sometimes you win the pie… and sometimes the pie wins you!
Even when we don’t come out on top, our pride, resilience, and heart always shine through — and that’s what truly makes West Cypress Hills great. Every challenge, every laugh, and every “almost” moment moves us one step closer from growth to greatness.

Attendance Challenge Update
Well… it’s official — I’ll be getting the pie in the face! We were so close, but our friends at Serene Hills Elementary edged us out in October’s Attendance Challenge:
SHE = 96.42%
WCHE = 95.77%
Even though we came up just short, I’m so proud of the effort and energy our students, staff, and families showed all month long! Our campus goal for the year is 96%, and we’ll have another fun challenge coming soon.
Please keep encouraging your Tiger to be at school every day they’re healthy and able — every minute truly matters for their learning and growth.

Thank You for the Heartfelt Shout-Outs!
I want to share my deepest gratitude for the incredible messages of appreciation you’ve sent through our Teacher & Staff Shout-Out Form!
This week, I published your heartfelt notes in our Teacher Talk newsletter — and let me tell you, your kind words absolutely made our teachers’ week! Seeing how much you notice, appreciate, and celebrate their hard work means the world to our team.
The Shout-Out Form will remain open through the month of November, so there’s still time to recognize a WCHE staff member who’s made a difference for your child or family.

Veterans Day Rally
Our Veterans Day Rally is coming up next Tuesday, and it’s one of the most meaningful traditions at WCHE. We hope you’ll join us as we honor the brave men and women who have served our country.
If you haven’t already, please be sure to:
-
RSVP to attend the rally
-
Submit your Veteran Honor Bricks by the deadline so we can include your loved ones in our celebration
We can’t wait to come together as a community to show our gratitude and Tiger Pride! 🇺🇸

This week’s newsletter is packed with new information, so be sure to read all the way through for important updates and upcoming events.
Thank you for your continued partnership, enthusiasm, and support. Our WCHE community truly makes this school a place where pride fuels achievement, resilience grows through connection, and every child is seen, valued, and empowered to lead with heart.
With Tiger Pride,
Amy Russ

School Library Advisory Council
In response to Senate Bill 13, our Board of Trustees has established the Lake Travis ISD School Library Advisory Council (SLAC.) The purpose of the SLAC is to formalize a collaborative process between librarians, parents, and community members in the ongoing development of strong library collections that support student achievement and meet state standards. This process helps ensure transparency, parent involvement, and a strong library program that strengthens student achievement while nurturing a lifelong appreciation, habit, and love of reading.
The SLAC works with librarians and district staff to develop a recommended list of library materials for procurement, including donated titles. At least 30 days before the Board’s vote, the proposed procurement list will be made publicly available for parents and community members to review and provide feedback. The Board will review these recommendations, consider any proposed changes, and make the final decision to approve or reject the materials. The SLAC will also recommend procedures for handling challenges to library materials and review challenges according to law before making recommendations to the Board.
Visit the SLAC webpage to access the Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List, Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List Feedback Form, and the Library Materials Challenge Form.
For questions or additional information regarding SLAC reviews or library material challenges, please contact Tasha Barker at watersbarkert@ltisdschools.org, or at 512-533-6036.
Contact Coach Williams or Coach Mayes to share the good news about new shoe-tying talents!
