A Message from Ms. Peterson

Hello MCP3 Families,

It is hard to believe that we will be welcoming the month of May this week! We are excited to enter a season filled with growth, continued focus on learning goals, and finding fun ways to celebrate our final full month together in K3! Throughout May, we will have many opportunities to celebrate achievements, both big and small, prepare for our completion ceremony and end of year activities, and participate in special projects! We encourage you to stay connected by checking your child's folder daily, read the weekly newsletters, and checking out DOJO! Your support plays a vital role in your child's success and we are grateful for your continued partnership.

Here are some important reminders and updates:

Teacher Appreciation Week- 5/4-5/8

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week!!!! Let's be sure to recognize the incredible dedication, care, and hard work our MCP3 staff bring to our school each and every day! They go above and beyond to support, inspire, and guide your scholars, and next week is a wonderful opportunity to show them our gratitude. If your family would like to participate, here are few simple and meaningful ways to show appreciation:

  • A handwritten note or card sharing a kind message
  • drawings/crafts made by your child
  • Gift Cards to favorite coffee shops, local restaurants
  • Individually wrapped snack (sweet, salty, sour, crunchy, chewy- teachers love them all)
  • Beverage (soda, juice, energy drink, coffee, etc.)
  • Classroom/office supplies (pens, highlighters, post it notes, etc.)
  • Personal care items (mints, lip balm, lotion, etc.)

Please remember that participation is completely optional, and any gesture—big or small—is deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us celebrate our amazing teachers and all they do for our scholars and school community!

Quarter 3 Data to Goals

  • Attendance Goal: 93% Attendance. Our Quarter 3 attendance was 90%. We were close!
  • We decreased the number of scholars with 8+ absences by 9 scholars! Way to go!
  • We decreased the number of scholars with 5+ tardies by 7 scholars! Way to go!
  • Behavior Incident Report goal: 10% reduction in BIRs quarter to quarter. We had 27 fewer Behavior Incident Reports in Q3 than in Q2, which is 50% decrease! Way to go!
  • Goal: 90% of students with 0-1 BIR per quarter. Quarter 3, we had 90% of our scholars with 0-1 BIR! Way to go!

Be sure to check out the names listed below for earning Q3 Awards! Awards will be coming home this week. Let's keep up the great work!

Spring People Who Love Us- Event- Save the Date

MCP3 will be hosting a People Who Love Us Event ~ on Friday, 5/15 from 4:30pm-6:00pm. Please plan to join your scholar and bring the loved ones! This is a great opportunity for the family and close loved ones to enjoy creative activities together! Snacks, crafting, games, and more! More details to come in next week's newsletter and dojo. Stay Tuned!

Upcoming Parking Lot Construction

We are excited to share that construction will begin soon (anticipated date: April 30th) in the parking lot of our MCP Lola Rowe North campus. We are participating in the Fresh Coast Green Communities program which funds design, construction, and maintenance of green stormwater infrastructure through the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District. Our site will be receiving a new underground storage system that will hold almost 300,000 gallons of stormwater during every big storm. We're helping keep water out of our neighbor's basements and protect Lake Michigan. We're also updating our landscaping along the north side of the parking lot and all along Teutonia. These new plants will be tolerant to road salt and help clean the air around our campus.

During construction, the northern entrance off Teutonia will be closed. The northern portion of our parking lot will be fenced off and be inaccessible during construction. The southern entrance will remain open at all times. The southern area of the parking lot will remain accessible. There will be a few days where new pipe is being laid where some work will extend out of the fenced area. These areas will be coned off on this day and will occur over the summer outside of the school year. The project will be substantially complete by September 15 with everything wrapped up by the end of October.

Please watch for a visual aid that will be shared later this week. We appreciate your patience in the coming months as the Fresh Coast Green Communities program works to improve our sewage system.

What this means for K3 Families and Drop off and Pick up:

  • There will be one designated entrance and exit for the remainder of the school year
  • Families/daycare MUST follow the flow of traffic (cones will be set up) and park in a parking spot
  • Increased congestion in the parking lot is expected- please plan accordingly and be patient
  • K3 Scholars must still be walked into and out of the building, signed in/out of their class for arrival and dismissal

MCP3 Completion Ceremony ~Save the Date

MCP3 will celebrate our class of 2040 in a K3 completion ceremony on June 10th at 9:00am in the Lola Rowe North Campus Gym. Here are a few details regarding our completion ceremony so that it runs smoothly and everyone is safe:

  • Scholars may come dressed up
  • Scholars will NOT be wearing caps/gowns in order to limit unnecessary distractions
  • Balloons are NOT allowed in the gym
  • Scholars MUST walk back to their classrooms with their teacher after the ceremony to ensure an accurate headcount. Families may sign their child out from the classroom upon completion of the ceremony. Parents may NOT take their child from the ceremony or from the gym.
  • Parents and family members are asked to remain in the designated "guest" area to NOT interrupt the ceremony
