Kindergarten Learning Habits
We are halfway through our first semester of kindergarten and last Friday our kindergarten families received NWEA MAP scores and iReady reports. Today, your child's teacher will be emailing you a report of your child's Learning Habits. You can expect an email between 1:00- 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, after students are released.
The Learning Habits are a part of the report card and because we are mid-way through the semester, we wanted to provide you with a picture of how your child is doing. Below is an explanation of how we will report on both academics and learning habits in the January report card. We report on 10 Learning Habits in kindergarten as our students are developing these skills.
Academics and Learning Habits will be reported separately allowing teachers to identify and address specific behaviors that may impact student learning. Learning Habits are aligned with ROAR expectations: Respect, Ownership, Accepting, Ready. Students will be assessed using the same performance ratings such as Exemplary (4), Meeting (3), Approaching (2) and Beginning (1). The rubrics for each Learning Habit are linked below in English and Spanish.
Kindergarten Report Card Learning Habits (10):
Respect: Demonstrates respect to adults, Demonstrates respect to peers, Demonstrates respect to property
Ownership: Accepts responsibility for actions, Participates in class
Accepting: Willing to listen to other ideas, Resolves conflict appropriately
Ready: Follows school/classroom rules and routines, Prepared with materials for learning, Works independently and productively
During your child's parent-teacher conference coming up later this month, you will be discussing the learning habits as well as an update on your child's progress in literacy and math.

Sign Up for Parent Teacher Conferences-Deadline is Monday!
Our portal through Skyward Family Access opened last week for all families to sign up for conferences. The final day to sign up is on Monday, November 11th. If you haven't signed up by November 11th, your child's teacher will assign you a time slot.
Woodland families should already be familiar with Skyward Family Access because you have used it for registration, viewing student report cards, reporting absences, and more. We are excited to add one more feature to this central hub. Please follow these tips:
Log in to Skyward Family Access from your computer or mobile device. The interface is easy and straightforward regardless, but our initial testing shows the easiest user experience is with the Skyward Family Access App on your phone or mobile device. Apple, Google/Android
Check out this video to see what to expect once the sign-up window opens on Nov. 4
Make sure you know how to login to Skyward! Woodland continues to expand the options available through Skyward Family Access. If you need your Family Access login credentials please send an email to AccessHelp@Dist50.net.
The window to sign up is only open until Monday, November 11th. If you haven't signed up for a spot you will be assigned a date/time.
Please note we have a special attendance schedule in order for our staff to conference with all families. Dual Language families will be conferencing with both teachers together, so they will have an additional day for conferences to ensure enough time slots for all families to participate.
Conference Dates
Monday, November 25th: Students released at 10:40 a.m. and conferences will be in person and run from 12:00-4:00 and 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, November 26th: Students released at 10:40 a.m. and conferences will be virtual and run from 12:00-5:30 p.m.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Dinner-It's a Special Treat for our Staff!
On Monday, November 25th, our teachers and staff stay until 8:00 for parent-teacher conferences. They have a dinner break from 4:00-5:00 p.m. It's a nice treat if they don't have to pack their dinner for that night, so if you'd like to donate any amount towards this special staff dinner, it would be greatly appreciated. It's a meaningful way to show our staff how much they are appreciated. Donations will be accepted online through the District 50 webstore and all donations raised will go to the fall conference dinner and spring conference dinner. Thank you for supporting our amazing staff!

District Food Drive 2024
It's a Woodland tradition! This time of year we begin preparations for the Annual Food Drive. Over the previous years, we have been able to serve our Woodland families by providing additional support during the holiday season. With the generous donations from our staff, students and their families, we set up a Woodland Food Pantry with the hopes that everyone can enjoy this special time of year.
Ways to Participate
If you are interested in participating, there are many different ways you can help! From donating food, to volunteering, to signing up to receive food for yourself or for others, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Food Donations
One option to support the Annual Food Drive is to bring in non-perishable food donations to school, or drop off at the district office. Please follow these guides to help us make sure that there is a wide variety of items available for recipients.
Financial Donations
Another way to show your support is to donate funds through the district website. Your donation will go toward purchasing food and other needed items for Woodland families. In past years, Woodland has been able to provide a gift card to families to purchase fresh food items to supplement the non-perishable items that are available from the food drive.
We are accepting food and financial donations now through December 2, 2024.
Receive Donations
If you are interested in receiving food, Woodland families are invited to self-register. Or you can nominate a deserving family who may need support this time of year.
