2026-2027 Teacher Requests 2026-2027 Teacher Requests

It is hard to believe we are already at the point in the year when we begin planning next year's class lists. We would like to explain our expectation for parent requests in class placement for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Parents need to submit a request on the Google Form by Friday, Mar. 20 at 8:00 a.m. The form will be turned off after 8:00 a.m. on Mar. 20 and requests will no longer be accepted.
  • Please enter a form for each child separately.
  • You may not request a teacher by name. If you request a teacher by name, it will not be honored.
  • Please describe the learning style of your child and what type of teacher you feel best matches your child's learning style.
  • If there are other students you don't want your child placed with, you may request this. Please give the reason why these students shouldn't be placed together. This request will need to be made annually by a parent.

Winter Weather Reminder Winter Weather Reminder

As the temperatures drop, we want to remind you to please send your student to school with a coat, gloves, and hat as needed. Physical activity is important to the well-being of all students and has a great impact on their readiness to learn. Every student will be provided with recess daily. Weather conditions will be used to determine if recess is outside. Currently, any temperature below fifteen degrees (including wind chill) is considered too cold to go outside. If it is above fifteen degrees, with wind chill factored in, we will be going outside. Please dress your child appropriately during cold weather.

It is also very helpful to write your child's first and last name in their coat. This way, if your child misplaces their coat we are able to help the coat make it back to the correct classroom.

Valentine Reminders Valentine Reminders

As a friendly reminder, SCE doesn't hold Valentine's Parties; instead, we participate in a service project! This is in our parent handbook. This year, will work together as a building to spread generosity through our service project. We will collect food to help support our school backpack program which helps provide food to students who need it. Please see the article above for more Information. Classroom teachers will communicate when and how valentines will be handled in the classroom. Below you will see the consistent building-wide guidelines.

Only valentines meeting these expectations will be passed out:

  • If a teacher allows a decorated bag or box, it must fit in the student's backpack. Follow the directions given by your teacher.
  • Absolutely no candy or any food items attached to valentines. Any food item will be sent back home.

Thinking about Staying Home from School?

Research Shows that students that miss 10 or more days a year are 20% less likely to graduate on time. Keep them on track for graduation by sending them to school when they are not sick.

WSD Adjusts Schedule Starting in the 2026-27 School Year WSD Adjusts Schedule Starting in the 2026-27 School Year

WSD leaders are taking a step toward the District’s top strategic priority — improving academic achievement — by adjusting school schedules for the next school year. At the district level, monthly Late Start Mondays will be replaced with monthly All-District Early Release Wednesdays. At the middle and high (secondary) school level, in addition to the monthly All-District Early Release Wednesdays, the District will introduce weekly Secondary Early Release Wednesdays on full school weeks.

With these schedule changes approved by the Board of Education at the January Board meeting, the 2026-27 Academic Calendar is expected to be presented at the February Board meeting.

2026-2027 Enrollment Opens:

Feb. 9-13: Currently enrolled and returning Pre-K families and WSD employees.

Feb. 23: All Wentzville School District residents.

To enroll in our tuition-based preschool program, students must be 3 years old by July 31 of the year they are starting preschool.

In past years, families could choose their Early Childhood location. This year, your child’s Early Childhood site will be determined by your home address. Your address falls within an elementary school attendance boundary, and that boundary determines which Early Childhood location your child will attend. If you are unsure which elementary school serves your address, you can find it using the District’s interactive boundary map.

Early Childhood Locations by Elementary School Boundary:

Barfield: Boone Trail, Crossroads, Discovery Ridge, Duello, Green Tree, Prairie View

Samuelson: Heritage, Journey, Lake View, Peine Ridge, Stone Creek, Wabash
