Kindness in the Classroom
Inclusiveness
We have spent the first two units expanding on respect and caring in our classroom as well as in our community. It is now time to take these skills and explore inclusiveness and how we can include others. When we include others in what we are doing and treat them kindly, we are practicing inclusiveness! We will also celebrate what makes each of us special and what makes others special as well. Even though we are diļ¬erent, we can all be included!

Classroom Visitors/Observers
To minimize disruptions and to maintain the instructional integrity of the educational environment, all classroom visitors/observers must be scheduled through the main office. Classroom visitors/observers must be accompanied by an administrator or designee.
Volunteers
BSD Board Policy IICC states that: āVolunteers shall operate under the direction of a staff member and shall be within sight or sound of a staff member while working with students.ā
Due to the potential for disruption to the learning environment, most volunteer work is completed outside of the classroom on a specific task.
Current Volunteer Opportunities at Kinnaman:
Read to Me opportunities are available to volunteers trained by Academic Coaches in a location designated by school staff.
Staff-directed non student contact opportunities after school.
Staff-directed classroom support opportunities during school.
Volunteers are needed to assist our Field Day Coordinator, Jeff Lierman.
Volunteers to support BSDās Art Literacy program.
BSD reserves the right to exclude any volunteer or visitor that it determines would be a potential disturbance to the educational process. Volunteer or visitor status can be denied and revoked at any time by BSD.
Attendance Matters
We expect students to attend school on time every day if they do not meet the Too Sick for School criteria.

Visitor/Volunteer Policy
If you havenāt done so already, please reapply to be a volunteer or visitor in the Beaverton School District. Weāre implementing a new volunteer management system and need time to process and complete the criminal background checks for all applicants.
Please note, that to enter the school building during regular student hours, you must have completed the background check. It takes about 10 days to process so please plan ahead.
Start on the Volunteer webpage on the district website. The entire process ā including the review of the Child Abuse Prevention & Reporting and Adult Sexual Misconduct training materials ā should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
Thank you for prioritizing our studentsā safety and for your willingness to volunteer in BSD.
