Happy Saturday!

Dear HMS Families,

We had so much fun yesterday celebrating Homecoming with our Hockinson community! We are incredibly lucky to be supported by a community that loves to support it's kids and yesterday, we were able to see that in full force. We were thrilled to participate in the HHS Homecoming Parade that celebrated all the wonderful things within our schools. Also, we loved being able to reconnect with our past students, celebrating their successes with them. We have amazing kids!!! Thank you for continually supporting us!

Next week is a big week at HMS! We have our first spirit week that ends with our annual volleyball-a-thon! This is one of our favorite weeks of the year!

We also have A LOT of events happening on Wednesday, 10/1! We have a HOME cross country meet at Hockinson Meadows, a HOME football game at the HHS stadium, and a HOME volleyball game at the HMS gym! If you are able, we would love to see you join us in cheering on our athletes!

It's going to be a great week!

With Kindness,

Bess & Sid

Spirit week

For those of you who are new to HMS, we have and continue to work really hard to build our school spirit. One thing we take really seriously is participation in spirit week. We have turned it into a grade level competition and the kids take it really seriously. During lunch we use a counter and individually count every student, divide it by the number of students that are at school that day to get a percentage of participation. It's a very intricate process that we have fine tuned over the past two years. It's very fun, the pictures and creativity we get is priceless, and the kids have a great time!

On Friday, the grade level that wins spirit week participation is assigned the spirit cone (pictured above). It's the ugliest thing that you could ever see, but the excitement when they win, is priceless. We unveil the spirit cone at a pep assembly on Friday. You could look through our social media to witness some of the unveiling moments of the cone. Currently, our 7th graders, are proud owners of the spirit cone.

This week are spirit days are as follows:

Monday - Dress to Un-impress

Tuesday - Toddler vs. Senior Citizens

Wednesday - Dress Like a Dad

Thursday - Perfect Pair

Friday - Color Wars! (8th Green, 7th Yellow, 6th Red)

We hope your student will join in the fun!
