Message from Mr. Carlson
Hawks Soar Celebration
The PTO would like to thank you for your generosity during the Fall Fundraiser! Because of your support, we were able to surpass our goal by almost $7,000! In addition, we had a sizable anonymous donation to support the Fall Fundraiser! We look forward to sharing that amount with you in the near future and are busy working with Mr. Carlson and the staff to see where the greatest need currently is to use this amazing donation!
Today the students and staff were able to celebrate their incredible Fall Fundraiser results. All students received a Rice Lake Rubber Duckie at the end of their run.
On Monday, Oct 5, the top classes: PreK: Ms. Ann, K: Ms. Brouwer, 1st: Ms. Winkler, 2nd: Mrs. Monson, 3rd: Mrs. Henley, 4th: Mrs. Caldeen, and 5th: Mr. Hanlon, will have their pizza party during their regularly scheduled lunch time. Ms. Brouwer’s class raised over $2,000, so they will also be receiving an ice cream or popsicle treat in the near future.
On Friday, Oct 9, we will have a school wide movie day with popcorn provided by the PTO. Classes will watch a movie in their classroom, as it works in the schedule and will be treated to some yummy popcorn!
Again, thank you so much for your generous support of Rice Lake PTO and in turn the support to our staff, students, and school. You are amazing! Go HAWKS!!!
Emergency Response Drills
We want to make you aware that all Centennial Schools will be conducting state-required Cardiac Emergency Response drills. Our drill will take place on October 7th.
We will be partnering with Project ADAM (Automated Defibrillators in Adam's Memory) to practice a drill with our staff to rehearse our Cardiac Emergency Response Plan and practice our skills. These drills are an important part of our ongoing efforts to ensure that our staff and school community are prepared to respond quickly and appropriately in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. We are sharing this information in advance so that students, parents, and guardians are aware of the drills and are not caught off guard by what may appear to be a sudden or unexpected emergency response at school. Our goal is to continually strengthen our emergency preparedness and ensure our staff are confident in recognizing sudden cardiac arrest, activating emergency procedures, and responding appropriately while help is on the way. We appreciate your support as we take these important steps to help make our school community as prepared as possible.
Thank you for your partnership and support.
Mr. Carlson

Centennial Forward
Question 2: What is proposed for our schools?
Question 2 would address prioritized safety, infrastructure, learning-space and community-use needs— not every possible project. How is your student’s school impacted by the referendum? Learn more about proposed school improvements.
Check out this week’s videos:
- Maintaining Quality Schools
Maintaining strong schools requires stable operating funding. See why the proposed operating levy would help Centennial maintain current staffing, programs, student supports and opportunities as operating costs continue to rise. - Behind the Walls
The systems most people never see are essential to every school day. See why aging heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure is included in Question 2.
TOUR: See our schools. Learn about identified needs. Ask Questions.
Join us for a walking tour of Centennial High School and Centennial Elementary to learn more about the two referendum questions and see the areas identified through the Centennial Forward planning process.
Upcoming Tours
- Thursday, October 8 at 6 p.m.
- Location: Meet in the Learning Commons at Centennial High School (4757 North Road, Circle Pines)
During the tour, community members will have an opportunity to learn more about:
- The two referendum questions on the November 2026 ballot
- How proposed improvements address identified district needs

It’s Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch time at Centennial Schools!
Centennial School District is joining schools, early care centers, colleges, hospitals, and other organizations across the Great Lakes Region states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, and Ohio in the annual Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch. We will celebrate National Farm to School Month by crunching into apples from our local Pinetree Apple Orchard at lunch time on October 8.
Please help in showing support of our local farmers by wearing flannel on October 8 and stop by the cafeteria to crunch into a delicious apple. This collective crunch encourages healthy eating and supports farm to school and local food initiatives throughout the Great Lakes Region.
Immunization Information
Minnesota law requires children enrolled in childcare, early childhood education, or school to be immunized against certain diseases, unless the child is medically or non-medically exempt. If proper documentation is not provided, students will be unable to attend school after October 30, 2026. Contact your student’s school with questions.
