Dear LPS Families,

We are excited to announce that one of our students, Advith Mudunuru, has been named a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist! This prestigious recognition is based on outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT. Semifinalists represent less than 1% of high school seniors in each state and now have the opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and compete for National Merit Scholarships. We are incredibly proud of this student and look forward to sharing more details soon.

We also appreciate your continued patience as we work through the “kinks” with our technology. As you know, we are working with a new technology vendor, and we are collaborating closely to report and resolve issues as soon as they arise. We are also developing systems that will help us become more proactive rather than reactive in addressing technology needs.

Finally, we are continuing to monitor student tardies. Students have four minutes to transition between classes, and arriving on time is essential to protecting instructional time. Please remind your child to move directly to class and be seated and ready to learn when the bell rings.

REMINDER: If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s attendance, please reach out directly to your child’s teacher via email and copy secondaryattendance@lpsfriso.com. If an attendance record needs to be corrected, the teacher must submit a form to request the change. Please be aware that attendance corrections must be requested within 3 days, so it is important to contact the teacher as soon as possible.

The district Ascender services have changed to Region 10. Due to that change, you will not be able to use the Ascender login shortcut or link that you have previously been using. Please use the following links for parent and student logins.

The Gifted and Talented referral window opens on September 11th for referring students in grades 1st-11th grade. The window will close on September 25th at 4pm. *Kindergarten GT screening and assessment will take place in January and February. Please do not complete this form for kindergarten students. *If your student is already in the GT program at LPS you do not need to complete this form.

Homecoming Spirit Week is September 21–24! Students are encouraged to participate in each day’s dress-up theme and show their school spirit. Please review the daily themes below and remember that all outfits must follow school dress code guidelines. We can’t wait to celebrate together!

Get ready for this year's Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 26th at 7-10pm! The theme is Masquerade Ball. Please see the attached flyers for information about how to purchase tickets to the dance, what the spirit theme days are during Homecoming Week (9/21-24), and the dress code guidelines for the dance. We can't wait to see all high school students at the dance and make this year's homecoming one to remember!

Chick-fil-a ordering is now open for October! Please visit myschoolbucks.com to order. Be sure to select the correct student and day when ordering, CHANGES CANNOT BE MADE. Chick-fil-a will be offered on Mondays 10/5, 10/19 & 10/26 Chick-fil-a will be offered on Thursdays 10/1, 10/8, 10/15, 10/22 & 10/29 Dillas will be offered on FRIDAY 10/16. Ordering will close on September 23rd.

Picture Retake Day will be held on October 6. Retakes are available only for students who meet one of the following criteria:

• Students who were absent on the original Picture Day (August 14th)

• New students who enrolled after the original Picture Day (August 14th)

• Students whose parents/guardians complete the Picture Retake Google Form to request a retake

If you would like your child’s photo retaken, please be sure to complete the Google Form in advance.

At Leadership Prep School career readiness starts long before students walk into their first job interview. Welcome to Skills Workouts after hours with NXT LVL Training. This is a way to get more fundamental work on athletes skills and to get more confident with knowing the why and how aspects of the game of basketball. Would love for your athlete to join us!
