TOP HEADLINES
Inclusion, Sportsmanship & FUN at CVUSD's Annual Unity Games!
In honor of Unity Day, on Wednesday, October 21st, our Unified Sports teams from Westlake High School, Newbury Park High School and Thousand Oaks High School came together for the annual Unity Games event. Our Unified Athletes and Unified Partners participated in a round robin of friendly matches in bocce, frisbee golf, ladder toss and cornhole. Unified Sports clubs at all three schools meet weekly, bringing Unified Athletes and Unified Partners together to build lasting friendships, develop new skills, and prepare for special events like the annual Unity Games. The rain may have moved the event indoors...but the spirit of unity was shining bright as ever!
Did You Know: All three of CVUSD's comprehensive high schools are National Banner Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools. This prestigious honor, awarded by Special Olympics North America, recognizes schools that go above and beyond in creating inclusive environments where students learn, play, and lead together. To earn this national banner recognition, schools must demonstrate their commitment to inclusion by meeting ten standards of excellence set by Special Olympics North America. Way to go Lancers, Panthers, and Warriors!
