Glenn Public School Eagle Post
September 2025
Superintendent's Nest
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!
I am so excited to greet everyone each morning with a Hug, High Five or Handshake. Making connections each day helps to build relationships. Almost all of the staff at Glenn has been trained in Capturing Kids Hearts which is a program that has transformational processes focused on social-emotional wellbeing, relationship-driven school culture, and student connectedness. Students are also able to assist in creating a Social Contract in their classroom regarding expectations. This helps students to feel empowered and accountable for their behaviors. We also have schoolwide and playground expectations.
I truly believe “Readers are Leaders!” Each month every student will receive a FREE grade appropriate book to help build their in-home library. Having access to quality, high interest books assists students in their reading journey. Students should be reading 15-20 minutes every day. I have been given a scholarship from The Sons of the American Legion in South Haven to help fund this program. Visiting the local libraries is also another great way to expose your child to the world of reading!
I would like to invite everyone to our monthly school board meetings which occur the 2nd Monday of each month at 5:30pm in the Multi Purpose room. We will be offering FREE childcare during this time with Ms. Victoria. This is a great way to stay in the loop with our policies, procedures and inner workings of the school. We will also acknowledge a student each month who is our “Student Spotlight.”
Enjoy these last few days of summer! Fall is right around the corner.
Sincerely,
Jamie Walle
Superintendent/Principal

Meet The Staff
Mrs. Bain
My name is Amy Bain, and I am thrilled to be starting my third year with the Glenn Public team. My family and I continue to love living in Hamilton, Michigan; Michigan has become our favorite of the four states we've called home. My husband, Milton, and I have a 15-year-old son, Zachary, two adult sons, and a lively household that includes our two beagles (Buddy and Cooper) and our cat, Cow. In my free time, I enjoy reading, hiking, gardening, and various arts and crafts.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, I have been working in education for eight years. Since joining Glenn Public, I have been proud to earn my teaching certificate and have thoroughly enjoyed my roles teaching Art, PE, and serving as the Language Arts and Math Interventionist. The school's commitment to creating lifelong learners in a nature-rich environment continues to inspire me, and I look forward to another fantastic year of learning and growth with our students.
Ms. Kerr
I grew up singing in the church choir from the age of 8, and grew to love the choral singing of the hymns. In high school, I started learning how to play guitar and continued with choral singing through college. I started writing my own original songs in the 60s. I got a record contract with RCA when I was in my 20s, as a singer songwriter and recorded a song I wrote right here at the Lakeshore called “water my soul“. I married and had children and now have two darling grandchildren, who unfortunately live very far away in Switzerland. I teach yoga and have a small cottage rental business and I swim in the lake all summer.
I love teaching at the Glenn School and living in Southwest Michigan.
Miss Larabel
Instructional Assistant
Miss Victoria
I am the before-and-after-school aide. This is my third year at Glenn. I have always loved being able to connect with all kids, but especially those who may be a little tougher to connect with. I try to build meaningful, trusting relationships with the students and between them as well.
Ms. Walle
I am in my 4th year as Superintendent/Principal at Glenn. I graduated from Bloomingdale High School, then I went on to Lake Michigan Community College, and graduated with a Bachelor's from Grand Valley State University in Physical Education with an Elementary Minor. I then achieved my Master's in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University. I also achieved a Central Office endorsement through MASA in the Horizon Leadership program. I've worked at Glenn School in multiple capacities including PE teacher, After School Coordinator, Instructional Aide, and Upper Elementary Teacher.
I love hosting family and friends at my house for get-togethers because I enjoy cooking for everyone. I enjoy spending time with my husband (Ray), son (Seth) , 3 nieces (Norah, Zoey, Eliianna) and 1 nephew (Griffin) though I have many more nieces and nephews since getting married on New Year's Eve! I chose to come to Glenn School because of the small town community. The small class sizes help me get to know all of the students and their families. I love participating in Circle of Lights each year and seeing so many previous students and families. 269-512-7977

Mrs. Jesser
Hello! My name is Katie Jesser, and I teach Technology and Spanish at Glenn School. I love helping students think creatively, solve problems, and discover that they can be creators of technology, not just users. I hold degrees in Computer Information Systems and Language Arts/Elementary Education from Grand Valley State University. Glenn is especially meaningful to me—three of my four boys attended here, and even my grandma was once a Glenn student!
Mrs. Parkhill
Upper Elementary
Barb Null
I have been an educator for 24 years, including 18 years at Glenn School. I was a lead classroom teacher 2003 to 2017. Currently, I am the Special Education Teacher.
I continue to work with kids because I loves it and enjoy helping them become lifelong learners.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, kids, and 7 grandkids.
Cate Rutter
Since 2018, I've had the pleasure of working at Glenn School. The beautiful building and the people—staff and students alike—immediately made me feel at home. It’s the little things, like getting a smile from a student, that make my day so special.
My home base is the front office, where I answer phones and hand out plenty of Band-Aids. I also love getting a chance to sub in the classrooms. In the spring, I coach for the Total Trek Quest program with Arbor Circle, where I get to help upper elementary students learn about running and healthy habits.
In my free time, you can usually find me with family and friends. I also love to read, head to the beach, enjoy a bit of chocolate, or work on my little plant collection.

Kevin Poolman, Trustee
I am a Business Development Manager and Sales Engineer for North America, Extruded Plastic Sheet Products. I attended Davenport University for Sales and Marketing. I've worked in Operations and Sales for 36 years. I also served 10 years in the US Air Force, both active and reserve, before returning to Michigan.
I am married with two children, and three grandchildren. When I'm not working I enjoy spending time with my family, boating, bicycling, hunting, fishing, and traveling.
I found himself at Glenn School because my wife and children all attended. My family and I have been involved with the school for many years in various capacities. When the opportunity came up to learn more about the inner workings of the school and to serve in a larger role, I was very excited. I find the staff are vibrant, focused group of people to work with. I appreciate the expertise and dedication of all staff members and the way the students are cared for continue to inspire me.

Amber Brush, Treasurer
I have lived in Glenn for about 10 years, and the surrounding area for many years.
I have an associated degree from Lake Michigan College. I am the office manager at Brush Enterprises, my husband’s repair shop in South Haven. We also run a small farm at our home. We’ve got about 70 beef cows, ranging from cute calves to mamas & bulls. During market season (April through October) you can also catch me at the Farmer’s Market (South Haven).
I have 3 wonderful children. My oldest joined the marines, and just began his third year. He is currently stationed in Japan. My daughter just started her senior year at South Haven High School. My youngest is Parker, he is in 4th grade this year. He spent 4 years at Glenn, and just transitioned to Douglas for a bigger class before the middle school. He is the reason I came to Glenn. Outside of work and markets my kids keep me busy with sports: soccer, basketball, and baseball. I wouldn’t change it for the world!
Glenn is such an amazing place with a sense of community that can’t be found elsewhere. I encourage everyone to come on out to our board meetings, listen to what’s going on behind the day to day. I also encourage everyone to volunteer whenever possible, the PTC has my heart too.
