🌰 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 🌰 PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear MGES Families,

We have recently become aware of concerns involving online interactions among students, including instances of unkind behavior in group chats that are beginning to carry over into the school day. While many of these interactions occur outside of school hours, they can have a direct impact on students’ well-being and the learning environment.

We ask for your partnership in reinforcing expectations for respectful and responsible online behavior. Please take time to regularly check and review your child’s devices, including text messages, apps, and group chats. Ongoing conversations at home about digital citizenship, empathy, and appropriate communication are essential.

Families also have access to Securly, which can help monitor activity on school-issued Chromebooks and provide additional oversight. Utilizing these tools, along with consistent supervision, can help ensure students are using technology safely and appropriately.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a positive, respectful school community. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Attention 3rd, 4th and 5th grade families:

Students will be taking the English Language Arts PSSA test next week April 20-22. Please reach out to your child's teacher, as well as MGESattendance@udsd.org if they have an upcoming appointment (AM) that may occur during the PSSA testing dates. If students arrive to school during the testing window, they will remain in the main office until their classroom is completed testing.

Best regards,
Mr. Perez

🌼Spring Allergy Season: A Message from the Health Office 🌼

Spring is here, and so are seasonal allergies for our chipmunks! Sneezing, itchy eyes, and congestion can make school days more challenging.

Here are some helpful tips for home:
• Keep windows closed
• Wash hands/face after outdoor play
• Change clothes after being outside
• Shower before bed

We appreciate your help in keeping students comfortable and ready to learn! Remind your child to troubleshoot itchy eyes by not rubbing at their eyes, washing their hands, and even using easy remedies like a wet paper towel. Red itchy eyes especially are the biggest challenge for our youngest chipmunks.

If your child struggles with allergies, consider checking in with your healthcare provider about management options. Please do your best to remember to administer any allergy medications at home to keep your child the most comfortable at school.

Medications at School:
If your child needs medication during the school day, please contact the Health Office before sending anything in. Do NOT send in medication to school unless you have reviewed the situation first with the nurse.

Required paperwork for in-school medication (over-the-counter or prescription):
• Medication Dispensing Form (linked below)
• Physician’s order/prescription

Medication will not be administered in school without the required paperwork.

We've got this, Chipmunks!
